Can you show your birth certificate - in lieu of a passport - to fly from England to Northern Ireland?

The answer depends on the traveller's nationality, not the origin of the flight. Regardless, most countries now require passports, and will reject birth certificates, which are not considered to be travel documents (i.e., they can identify you within your country of birth, but are useless to anyone needing proof of your identity outside your birthplace).

View the information in the related link for Ireland entry information, which may not be up to date; always consult a travel agent or local embassy or similar for current regulations and requirements.

Any airline flying from a UK airport will ask for photo ID at check in, whether UK citizens or others, and as UK citizens don't have internal ID cards, the passport is the best way of providing this, and is also the best way for foreigners to prove who they are.

Birth Certificates obviously don't have your photo as you look now, in the UK they have never had photos on them, so they would be useless. Northern Ireland is part of the UK, so if a non-UK citizen has already obtained entry into England (part of the UK) there should be no need for further entry requirements.

Birth certificates tell nothing about the person other than the information that pertained to them at the time of their birth. They tell nothing of a possible criminal record, which is, especially these days, vital information when travelling. There are many times when a person is out of jail on bail when they must surrender their passport while awaiting trial. This helps insure the person will not leave the country before their trial date, unlike a birth certificate.

Do you need your birth certificate for your passport?

Does a child need a birth certificate or form of id to fly from California to Hawaii?

Do you need a birth certificate to fly from Georgia to Hawaii?

You cannot board a commercial flight using a birth certificate, regardless of whether the destination is domestic or international. To fly from Georgia to Hawaii, you can use a valid, government-issued photo ID, such as a drivers license.

Can you remove father from birth certificate in MA?

Will a birth certificate and ID work when flying from Aruba to the US?

"Will a birth certificate and ID work when flying from Aruba to the US?" The answer to this question will differ depending upon various factors unique to your situation. All of the following information applies only to U.S. citizens. Citizens of other countries must check with the U.S. Consulate in their own home country to determine entry requirements for the United States. This information is crucial to ensure you don't lose your money for the airline ticket, so please read the answer in full. The answer is more complicated than a simple yes or no :) So, assuming the traveler in question is a U.S. citizen: 1. I highly reccommend carrying a passport when traveling abroad. A passport is the most legally valid proof of citizenship and proof of identity, neatly combined within one federally issued document. However, for travel to certain nations, and only valid through 2006 for travel by air or sea, a certified copy or original birth certificate, issued by the State (NOT the hospital - Hospital certificates are NOT legal documents), with a raised seal embossed or produced on certain, legally accepted watermarked paper, and accompanied by a government issued photo ID will provide proof of citizenship and proof of identity. The birth certificate must be considered a LEGAL Document - and not all birth certificates (even if considered legal in the past) are currently legal. If you insist upon travelling to the Caribbean with a birth certificate, I highly recommend that you show your travel agent the document PRIOR to purchasing your tickets. If the airline feels your document is not valid, they will deny your boarding without compensation. They can be fined by the government if they allow you to board without proper documentation and, trust me, they won't make ANY exceptions. Also, keep in mind that while you are traveling, should you decide to take a side-trip (Venezuala is quite close to Aruba), you have another country's entry requirements to contend with (ie. Venezuala requires passports of US citizens). 2. The United States is currently in the process of changing passport requirements for all travel outside our borders. On Jan. 8, 2007 a passport will be required to re-enter the U.S. by air or sea regardless of the visited country's requirements. If you plan to re-enter the U.S. on or after Jan. 8th 2007, you must provide a passport. 3. You ask about flying from Aruba to the U.S. and I am answering with the understanding that you will first fly from the U.S. to Aruba. The country of Aruba has requirements of it's own. If you plan to be there longer than 3 months, you must obtain a visa. Upon arrival in Aruba, you must present return or onward airline tickets with a date of less than 3 months in the future. Otherwise, Aruba will deny you entry. Also, when departing Aruba, there is a departure tax you must pay ($20 U.S. the last time I was there) in cash at the airport. 4. I urge you to go to travel.state.gov and investigate all of this information yourself. There is a wealth of information there including State Department consular pages for individual nations, entry requirements, fact sheets for travelers, checklists, and links to other pages to learn about customs and FAA requirements. Also, please understand Customs Requirements for U.S. citizens upon re-entry. You will have to pay duty (tax) on items you purchase abroad that exceed certain allowable limits. Again, travel.state.gov is your source for information. A well-informed traveller has the best experience abroad. I hope this answer has been helpful. I have been travelling extensively and offering advice to travelers for 20 years. I can't stress enough the need to educate yourself about your destination. Common sense and logic do not seem to apply when governments write the rules and when governments are involved, the only option you have is to comply. I urge you to use a local, well-respected, experienced travel agent at least for your first few journeys. His or her advice is invaluable and usually free to you. Bon Voyage!

Can you get into Canada with a birth certificate?

Pretty sure you need a passport or a driver's license and birth certificate.

if you don't have a passport they will let you cross with a birth certificate and drivers license, if you don't have either don't bother they won't let you cross,

The above answer is only partially true if you chose to use government issued id and it looks like it is sponsored by those who say you need one. (see the weblinks??)

the truth is you do not need one but you must have your papers ready to show. the government isssed identification are not your papers. the papers i speak of are your responsibility to maintain. i know a gentlemen who crosses the border with only this in the back of his bible. i can hear it now, a right wing christian nut job. Is that really adult thinking??? You may want to ask why he can do this an not need any government issued id?

Can a Mexican without a Passport fly to Mexico with just a birth certificate or a Mexican drivers lic?

I believe that all you need to go to Mexico is your driver's license (that's all we've used to drive there)...if you are a US born American citizen. However, if you are not a US born American citizen...you'll require further documentation. I do not suggest taking your original birth certificate with you when you travel. A passport is a better option and easier to replace if lost or stolen. Starting 2006 you will need to have a valid passport to travel between Mexico and the USA As of now, you need a passport, and a drivers license to go thru the airport customs.

According to the U.S. governments travel website and the department of homeland security, a passport is required to re-enter the USA by air. Land travel requires proof of identity and citizenship until June 1,2009 at which time a passport will be necessary. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Technically the above is correct BUT you willl have extreme difficulty boarding ANY International flight without having a passport as ID at check-in. After June 2009 the airlines have become really hard nosed about this. An " enhanced " drivers liscense is NOT a passport and will not be accepted at the airport .... those things are only for "driving " to Mexico or Canada BUT be warned, althought Mexico will maybe allow you in without a passort ( how much are you willing to pay as a bribe ? ) the U.S. Immigration will NOT allow you back into the U.S. without a passport Money buys anything in Mexico

FOR MINORS UNDER THE AGE OF 16: Each minor child shall appear in person. Both parents or legal guardians must present evidence of identity when they apply for a minor under the age of 16. yes,i think your husband can adopt your child.
Without notification, the father can challenge. The man need not have ever signed or seen the birth certificate to still be ordered to pay child support.

Can a mother stop the father doing a DNA test on a child when the fathers name is on the birth certificate?

Can you change your birth certificate back to your biological parent after being adopted?

While it is possible to change a child's birth date, it requires proof of some kind. Frequently this happens with kids adopted from overseas, whose actual birth dates are not known. A "best guess" birth date ends up on the kid's papers, and sometimes later some more information comes to light (e.g. the kid's doctor says "Hey, this kid's not 4, he's 8!") and then the parents will pursue changing the date.

Your dad has passed away how do you put his name on your birth certificate?

Reserch the law for your state! family court is the best place to start. child support court.

How can your son insure his name on the birth certificate if the mother is married to another man?

The parent(s) can put anyone's name on the birth certificate.

This statement is not true in the state of Kansas. My son had a child with a married woman who was separated from her husband. In the state of Kansas the husband is always considered the father of the child. In order to get the true parent's name on the birth certificate a divorce has to take place and then the real parent has to go to court to ask for his name to be put on the birth certificate.

A divorce is not needed but the biological father has to provide proof via a DNA test and show the court and then his name can be put on the birth certificate.

Can a hospital use a birth certificate as proof of identity to put father on babys birth certificate?

No they can't. A birth certificate is not proof of identity unless accompanied by an official ID issued by the state or federal government, such as a drivers license, state identification card, or a passport.

Can the mother name anyone she wants as the birth father on the birth certificate?

Here in the Philippines, a mother can not just name any person as the father of her child in the Birth Certificate. They will look for a marriage contract as their reference when you named your child under his/her father's surname. Or if not married, they let the father fill up the Affidavit of Acknowledgement/Admission of Paternity at the back of the Birth Certificate.

If the father is not legally divorced from another woman does his name still go on the birth certificate?

If the mother is not married to anyone else there is no one else considered to be the more likely father, so the father's marital status does not bar him from claiming the child and signing the birth certificate if he is willing to do so.

Does a man have any right to ask for a paternity test if he's not on the child's birth certificate?

I would say yes. I don't think you even need to ask permission, just take a swab of the child's mouth and of yours is all it takes now days.
