Why can't we toast bread in a microwave?
Because the microwave does not produce infrared waves. These are for the 'toast' effect. At least in my experience, putting bread in the microwave results in either soggy bread or rock solid bread. It just can't get crispy without a heat source.
For getting the 'toast' effect, the temperature needs to be more than 150 deg Celsius. Microwaves produce heat due to rapid movement of water molecules, thereby maximum temperature can go only up to 100 deg celsius After that, there is only loss of moisture and bread becomes 'dry' rather than becoming 'crisp'
Does bread rot faster then meat?
If they are stored at the same temperature, the bread would always last longer. If both were left out on the counter together, the meat would spoil first. If both were refrigerated, the meat would still spoil first but it would take longer. If both are frozen, they will keep for months.
What happens if you put to much yeast into bread?
Bread dough will become what is called "blown" dough. It will "blow up". Because of the gas bubbles produced by the yeast, it will keep growing until it has no structural integrity. Does potato bread have gluten?
Potatoes alone do not contain gluten. Depending on what is added to make the "mashed potatoes" they should still be gluten-free eg. often milk and butter or margarine is added and this is gluten free. If for any reason a flour is added made from wheat barley rye or oats - this will then add gluten. NB: most hash-browns have a flour containing gluten added to make the exterior coating. (A corn flour or flour from maize is still gluten-free however).
It is likely not even recorded when man first encountered mold on his bread.
How long after taking a loaf out of the oven do you wait to take it out of the loaf pan?
That depends on the size of the loaf pan, as well as the type of cake. But there is a guide I go by, baking at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, which is:
If it's a standard size loaf pan, which measures approximately 9 1/2 inches long x 5 1/2 inches wide, I would bake it for about 35 to 45 minutes, checking for doneness after about 30 minutes. If it's a small loaf pan, which is approximately 8 3/4 inches long x 5 inches wide, I would bake it for about 25 to 30 minutes, checking for doneness after 20 minutes.
Cakes continue to cook a bit more when removed from the oven because of the heat they retain, so it's better to take them out of the oven just a bit too soon than a bit too late in order to keep them from being dry.
