How do you manage download speed with hughesnet?

There are two main factors that can slow down your HughesNet satellite Internet download speeds. The first is peak times and the second is FAP limits.

Peak times for HughesNet satellite Internet are those periods when many users are sharing the same bandwidth. Typically this begins when people arrive home from work (around 4 PM) and lasts until they all hit the sack (around 10 PM). Weekends are also consider peak time periods. Using HughesNet, or any satellite Internet provider, during peaks times is going to result in slower download speeds simply because of network bandwidth congestion at those times.

For faster downloads of big files, it's best to start them during the early morning hours. They'll usually go a lot faster.

The other issue is FAP (fair access policy) limits. If you exceed your allotted daily bandwidth limit, HughesNet will slow your download speeds to 56 Kbps (dial up speed) until the next 24 hour period begins. This is done to keep a handful of satellite Internet users from hogging all the bandwidth in a particular area and slowing down the service for everyone else in that area. If your downloads are particularly slow on any given day, you may have exceeded your daily HughesNet FAP limit.

Just FYI, HughesNet has a three-hour download period from 3 AM to 6 AM that doesn't apply towards your FAP limit. Again, it's better to do big file downloads in those early morning hours . . . you'll stay within your FAP limit and avoid the slow download speeds at peak times.

Can you run Ethernet cable and coaxial cable in the same hole and outlet cause in a book it said not to use the same hole?

You should not run communications cables with power cables. That causes interference on the data cables.

Coax/video and Ethernet should not interfere with each other at all, and you can commonly buy wall face plates that have connectors for both data and video.

You do want to make sure that there is enough room in the holes for both cables to move freely without snagging or binding.

How is CAT5 in line coupler wired?

If the coupler is described as "INLINE", it would be wired as a straight coupler. All 8 pins are wired straight thru or "inline" as 1 to 1, 2 to 2, and so on until you get to pin 8 which goes to pin 8 on the opposite end.

Can computer models be touched?

If you are referring to computer models as being models that only exist in a computer's memory, then no, they cannot be touched. They are software and you simply cannot touch software. If you mean physical scale models of computers, then yes, they can be touched. They are hardware.

The easiest way to describe software is by picking up a book full of words. The software is the meaning behind those words, not the words themselves. It is the idea those words suggest to you, or what you imagine they mean. The concept the author is trying to convey. The story. None of these things are real -- the software is all in your head, your mind's eye if you will. You cannot touch it any more than you can touch the models in a computer's memory.

The words themselves are akin to the bits and bytes. We can see and touch them but until we actually process them, the software is completely hidden form us. Just as words on a page are meaningless until we actually read them.

The pages that hold the words are the medium, which is really no different to the punch-cards used by early computers to store software (where the bits and bytes were physical holes punched into card -- they could be seen and felt). Nowadays we used hard-drives and optical discs to store software, but the software doesn't actually come to life until we load it into memory and process it -- which is akin to reading the words on a page and extracting their meaning.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of using analogy exams?

PITFALLS IN USING ANALOGIES AND HOW TO AVOID THEM

However, an analogy is a double-edged sword in that uncritical use of it may lead to misconceptions. This is because there is no such thing as a perfect analogy, that is, it is almost always impossible to have a perfect one-to-one fit between the analog and the target. Some pupils may only remember the analog and not the target, while others may focus on irrelevant aspects of the analog to form incorrect ideas about the target (Cosgrove and Osborne 1985; Glynn 1989; Duit 1991).

One way of addressing problems associated with uncritical use of analogies is to adopt the six-step approach suggested by Harrison and Treagust (1994) which is based on a modification of Glynn's (1991) TWA (Teaching-With-Analogy) model.

Although the six steps below are numbered from 1 to 6, the numbering does not necessarily reflect the order in which the steps are to be carried out. Each step is important but the order in which the steps are employed depends on the individual teacher's style, the particular target concept, the analogy being used and the lesson structure that the teacher has in mind. The six steps are as follows:

1. Introduce the target concept to be learned.

2. Cue the pupils' memory of the analog.

3. Identify the relevant features of the analog.

4. Map out the similarities between the analog and the target.

5. Indicate where the analogy breaks down. Use of Analogy in Teaching 81

6. Draw conclusions about the target concept.

In the next section, an illustration of the use of this six-step approach in teaching the particulate theory of matter is given.

The following are some advantages of analogies:

They are valuable tools in conceptual change learning.

They provide visualisation and understanding of the abstract by pointing to similarities in the real world.

They may incite pupils' interest and hence have a motivational effect.

They force the teacher to take into consideration pupils' prior knowledge and may reveal misconceptions in previously taught topics.
