A DIRECT ANSWER:
Eugen Debs was a union organizer for railroad workers in the late 1800's who was arrested and imprisoned after the infamous Pullman Strike. While in prison he read the works of Karl Marx and this led to Debs rise, upon his release, as the best known socialist in America. In effect, Debs rejected capitalism because Karl Marx told him to. Debs was not an economist nor a businessman and much like Marx knew little to noting about supply and demand and the flexibility of wages, prices and currency. He was a mesmerizing orator who made several failed bids for the presidency under his socialist political party and if he were elected as President he could do no more for the economy than any President who does know a thing or two about economics. Presidents can not stimulate market places only producers and consumers can do that and no amount of government intrusion, no amount of union shenanigans can change that. Debs was a union organizer because for the railroads because he believed that the only way poor working men and women could rise up out of poverty was by forcing business to increase their wages. He failed to realize that he and all those other impoverished rail road workers were free to leave the rail roads and either find work that payed better or go into business for himself. Debs had no interest in the nuts and bolts operation of a business nor any interest in working in a field that payed better...until he went into politics.
Firstly, no one has pure capitalism. Secondly, you likely have capitalism because, relative to older forms of social organisation, capitalism has been far more effective and better for not only individuals but society as a whole. Thirdly, capitalism continues to survive, largely, because the system is conservative and the ruling classes in capitalism do not wish to make significant changes.
Do capitalism and communism have similar views on the ownership of a business and its resources?
No, capitalism and communism have very distinct views about the allocation of resources in a society. Capitalism supports private ownership with the profit motive, deriving additional expansion by accumulating more capital from continual investment. Communism supports social ownership of social resources for the benefit of society, not for profit.

What founding father provided the philosophy of capitalism Franklin Hobbes Locke or Smith?
When the American colonies were still part of the British empire, and later when they declared their independence, the capitalistic system, as we know it today, did not exist. Modern capitalism developed after the Civil War, but while we were still colonies, the ideas of capitalism were governing the British and Colonial economies. The father of modern capitalism is Adam Smith, but America had its share of capitalistic minded men such as Alexander Hamilton and Benjamin Franklin. The purpose of the colonies was to provide material to Great Britain, who in turn would manufacture goods for sale back to the colonies and to other nations. This was known as the mercantile system. In that sense, Britain and America were capitalistic nations. MrV
The answer of your question would be Adam Smith. If your asking about capitalism in America then we are going towards socailism with this stupid asss president that we have now. Whoever voted for him is a dumb trick that needs to get a life.
How can capitalism and socialism be compared?
Capitalism and Socialism can not be compared, because they are two complete different ideas that do nothing but conflict with each other.
Can there be a middle economic way between capitalism and communism or capitalism and socialism?
No. Capitalism means a tiny class of capitalists own the means of production, most people have to work for wages, and production takes place for sale at a profit. Socialism and Communism are the same: the means of production belong to everyone and production takes place to meet human need.
