First of all, in the way of diseases, you are much more likely to catch a disease from kissing any human than any animal, especially a PET rat. My rat used to kiss me all the time, not much different than being licked by a dog, except not as gross feeling. And no, "chew rods and salt licks" aren't going to stop this. Your rat is grooming you and it is a sign he is very comfortable with you and that he thinks you are his family. Disregard everything that first idiot wrote. BTW I'm a biology major and I've kept rats for years.
