Why was the ear grown on the back of a mouse?

The "ear" was grown on the mouses back because it's a good idea to have a "spare" human ear. The ear is very difficult to repair and is often damaged in car accidents, fights, fires, and also a disease called microtia; meaning "little ear" which can result in a slightly smaller ear or almost no ear. there are many different types of mice, the fancy mouse is just the domestic mouse that is generally a calmer mouse and makes a very gently pet that comes in many colors, compared to a "feeder" mouse which has been highly inbred and has a shorter life span, some people do still keep them as pets because they don't want them to become snake food, as sad as it may be that's what they were bred for and are normally less cared for. hope that answered ur question!!

I bought female and male mice and i have been trying to breed but its been a while now and she is still not pregnant. should i be conserned?

do you have a male there too because one female mouse can't breed if there is no male in the cage? maybe they are fighting.... or maybe the pet store or you got the breeds mixed up....maybe its a male or something. IF IT HASN'T BEEN 21 DAYS AND SHE HASN'T GIVEN BIRTH OR IS PREGNANT OR LOOKS PREGNANT......GET ANOTHER FEMALE MOUSE AND HOPEFULLY IT WILL BREED.

Do mice sit on theirnew babies constantly?

No, but if they are new mothers and it is their first litter, they might sit on the babies for a day. Afterwards and from time to time, she will look for food to eat, and water, because she has to produce enough milk to feed her babies. If she sits on her babies constantly or a lot, it's probably because there is little or no insulating materials in the cage. You must supply insulating material, or the babies will die of hypothermia. You can supply insulating material, such as shredded newspaper or shredded paper from your paper shredder; wood shavings, or even the kind of straw that horses and cows eat. Don't disurb the mother mouse and her babies for at least a week or two.

Why does m y rat love licking m y lips?

You should not let your rat like your lips! They have many diseases and can kill you if you continue do let him/her do that. To stop this from happening get him a salt lick or a chew rod and he will like that instead of your disease lips.

EWWW you are like so gross! :P

It's not gonna kill you.My rat does the same thing to me.

Whoever typed that first bit obviously doesn't know what they are talking about. First of all, in the way of diseases, you are much more likely to catch a disease from kissing any human than any animal, especially a PET rat. My rat used to kiss me all the time, not much different than being licked by a dog, except not as gross feeling. And no, "chew rods and salt licks" aren't going to stop this. Your rat is grooming you and it is a sign he is very comfortable with you and that he thinks you are his family. Disregard everything that first idiot wrote. BTW I'm a biology major and I've kept rats for years.
