What is a group of tortoises called?

a group of turtles is called a bale, is this right for tortoises as well???

Can leopard tortoises have another tortoise in there enclosure if not born in the same group?

Of course! They are like every other living thing, requiring company, and loving attention. Unless the tortoise is very ornery and will fight with other animals, no problem! My two males get along beautifully, like they were brothers. Some say males shouldn't be together, so maybe it's because one's not breeding size yet. My little one loves attention and follows the others around. Just make sure they aren't sick or anything, and won't attack other tortoises, and leave plenty of proper food out so they won't fight over food. Also, have a large outdoor enclosure, if possible, so they can get away from each other if they want to be solitary. Mine climb the steps to get away from the other ones!

Do snakes eat rabbits?

Full-grown rabbits are rather large for most snakes, but many snakes will prey on baby rabbits, and some of the larger snakes can eat adult rabbits.

How do tortoise protect themselves?

The tortoise uses its shell to protect itself from any possible threat. Tortoises are well-known for their slow speed in movements.

I just got a new tortoise and it is 8 months old. She seems to be sleeping a lot and I don't think its normal. How long or often should a tortoise sleep?

It depends...

you should have a heat lamp.

if so, it should be on from 12 am to around 4-5 pm. this will stimulate your tortoise and get it to bask, it is also common for them to sleep while they bask.

What species of tortoise is it?

a tortoise should sleep about 13 hours a night to poperly have a good sleep, but also they take long extended naps during the day.

What are you feeding it, and how often?

I hope this helps you...

Cheers!

The my baby red eared slider isn't eating turtle pellets or else anything that doesn't move He also isn't fast enough to catch the minnows he was given gave him How can i help him eat?

are you putting your turtle into a separate tank when feeding him? sometimes this helps - but make take some time. i find it easiest to just feed my turtles in their main tank. maybe try "reptotreat" by tetra - they make dried, natural shrimp - maybe this will give your turtle the sense of something more "real" than the pellets but not as difficult as the minnows.

How do you get your baby pond turtle to eat?

i would advise you to feed them live food first if you caught it from the wild, things like beetles: thyre crunchy and delicious, or fish. it might take them awhile to get used to those pellet food from pet stores.

i have two other bigger turtles that eats pellets, so i put my baby turtle in the tank and make him watch the big turtles eat and then what do you know, he went to chase down a piece of food to eat too.

another good food to try is ham. they go crazy for it. never force feed a turtle, that's just cruel. or it could be that the turtle is just scared of you.. lol let your sister or someone else feed him =x

How many gallons are in a 12 by 12 by 12 cage?

7.4815488000000005 gallons

Absolutey none. The water would run out between the bars.

They are talking about a glass terrarium- usually measured in terms of gallons. I would estimate about 6-8 gallons (a ten gallon is 12x12x18). There is actually a formula for this, and since the first answer seems to be in the right range, it wouldn't surprise me if they used it.

What care does a rattlesnake require?

The primary care requirement for a rattlesnake is a knowledgeable and fastidious caretaker. Or the caretaker will end up getting bitten and may die. Be smart about this one. Does your local emergency room have anti-venom for the species you might keep and an ER physician down with snake bite care? This snake is a "hot" snake in every sense of the word.

Some communities forbid keeping these critters without a permit and training. (Please, please, please, check local and state laws before taking off with this.) Anyone living nearby (particularly in the same house!) can become a victim of snakebite if things get even a little bit out of shape. Word.

A link is provided to some possible sources of information. Do a google search and get read up seriously on these guys. They play hard ball. And they don't take prisoners. Again, be smart about this one. May the luck of the Seven Pillars of Ooloo be with you at all times.

Note: It is a know fact that anyone who is interested in a particular line of investigation will go the distance to get information on the chosen topic. Wherever it leads. Whatever it takes. Wouldn't you if you were interested in something? Mmhmm. Thought so. The information asked for is being supplied here with the idea that the individual making the inquiry will also get as many warnings as is possible to cause that person to fully think through the ideas and make the best choices. The informed person is advantageously equipped to safely approach a situation. Particularly one like this where there is a real possibility that someone could end up being killed if all precautions are not observed all the time. (And it may be the snake keeper, or it may be a family member or a friend.) Get fully up to speed and take no shortcuts whatsoever.

In case you missed it, crotalus can deliver a fatal bite. Got it? One mistake is all it takes to get your card pulled. You been warned, ait?

EDIT: I just wanted to ask, why in the world would you want a pet you can't handle freely? The point of a pet is interaction. If you want something that's a bit more rare, just get something like a mandarin ratsnake or a sunbeam snake (believe it or not there are breeders of these guys).

What does a pet snake have in its cage?

Essential vivarium items include... a water bowl, suitable substrate, adequate heat source (especially for tropical species), and somewhere to 'hide' if the snake wants to have some 'privacy'.

You can also include items with rough surfaces - such as rocks or large pieces of cork bark. This will give the snake something abrasive to help it when it is going through the shedding process.

Do snails have a vertebra?

No.... they have no bones whatsoever. They're completely muscle, that's why they need their shell. They use their shell for protection and to keep a main structure.

Can my red ear slider eat cranberries?

Yes, red-eared sliders can eat cranberries, but they should only be given as an occasional treat rather than a regular part of their diet. Cranberries are high in sugar and can be acidic, which may upset their stomach if fed in large amounts. Always ensure that any treats are offered in moderation and as part of a balanced diet that includes leafy greens, vegetables, and protein sources.
