Can a dented red slider egg still hatch?

It's amazing what reptile eggs can survive. Eggs may dent in if humidity is not high enough. They will dent in close to hatching time as well.

Badly caved in eggs with no room inside are probably dead--texture will clue you in on this as well, if they become hard, dry, and light.

They may also turn a variety of nasty colors and smell bad, if they are dead.

However, some moldy reptile eggs that do not have a decay odor will go on to hatch, so don't throw anything away until you're certain beyond any shadow of a doubt that it is dead.

Do turtles need to mate every time it should lay eggs?

No, several types of female turtles can lay unfertilized eggs on a regular basis.

Why would a red ear slider bury itself in an aquarium?

Maybe it is too cold, and it is trying to keep warm. Does the instruction manual say to provide a separate heat lamp at one end to raise the temperature significantly? I bet it does. If you have such a lamp, you could try putting a red bulb in it so it is warmer radiation than a white one. Maybe you have one, but the tank is too tall for the heat to reach the bottom of the tank. Check online to see what the ideal temperature should be in that tank and get a thermometer and measure it.
Maybe it is laying eggs?

Is styrofoam safe to put in a turtle tank?

I don't think it's a good idea. Turtles sometimes bite (and swallow) non-food items, such as the plastic plants in their tanks. Eating styrofoam could kill the turtle.

NOT 'processed' ones ! If you get them fresh from a fish-monger they're fine - BUT - do NOT feed them sardines from a can !

Why do turtles die if you only feed them lettuce?

Because they are not herbivores, and thus cannot survive on a vegetarian diet. All turtles are either carnivores or omnivores.

Tortoises are herbivores. But even they cannot survive on just lettuce, as it is almost completely devoid of vitamins and minerals.

See the Related Links below for more information on the nutritional requirements of turtles and tortoises.

How do turtles attack when their being threatened?

Turtles do not really attack, the most they will do is try to snap or bite at the threat, otherwise they will usually hide from the situation by retracting the muscles and backing into their shell.

What will happen to red ear slider turtles if they are fed pickles reecces puffs and bread because your stupid dad fed them that?

Can a turtle shell repair itself after being broken?

Turtles have a slow metabolism so if it is a large wound, the turtle may not recover. Small holes and cracks in the shell can heal but the shell will always carry the scar. Treat the wound as you would any other wound. Clean it with an antibiotic and keep it dry until it seals over.

One thing to bear in mind is that turtles pump air into and out of their lungs by flexing the muscles at the openings of their shell. If the hole lets the air leak into the shell, the turtle will suffocate because it will cause the lungs to collapse. An air-tight patch over the hole might work but you would need to remove the air that already leaked in. That is a job for a vet.

How do I get rid of bubbles in turtle's tank - Added T Rex foam log landing and got soapy bubbles everywhere now - seems like box may have been opened before I purchased it?

The ONLY way to get rid - is to thoroughly scrub every surface - including anything that was in the tank after you added the foam log ! Rinse everything with clean water at least three times !

As a 'learning curve' for the future - never introduce anything into the turtle's environment that hasn't been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected !

Can you keep a spotted turtle as a pet?

I may be illegal to keep one as a pet, if you have gotten it from the wild where you live. But it is usually okay to keep them as pets if you get them from pet shops or breeders.
