Can a cat have kittens from more than one father?
Yes, there can be several fathers, and because of this there can also be babies of different gestational ages born in the same litter... (I had this happen to me once) One of the cats I was caring for had had a litter of about 8 kittens. All which by the age of 8 weeks should have been fully capable of caring for themselves however 3 of them seemed to be lagging way behind. I consulted the Vet on Staff at the shelter about it and he told me: That all the kittens were perfectly healthy and that it was quite possible that because it is possible for the female to become impregnated several different times and quite possibly by several different males throughout her estrus cycle. The majority of the kittens she became pregnant with were conceived at the beginning of her cycle while the last 3 were probably conceived towards the end, making the first 5 gestation 8 weeks but the last 3 were closer to 5 or 6 weeks (gestational age).
You will be happy to know that all survived and by the time they hit 12 weeks Calendar age the last 3 had caught up to their brothers and sister. One of the actually grew to be 20 pounds of solid muscle.
Will a pregnant cat stop meowing?
I'm sure behavior in pregnant cats differs depending on the cat. From personal experience, I would say yes and no. During the 9 week gestation period, for the first 5 or 6 weeks, my cat meowed a lot less. She became quiet and really affectionate. By the 8th week, as she began nesting and getting restless. She meowed A LOT more often, and continued to be pretty vocal until she went into labor.
Yes, cats can exhibit hyperactive behavior, especially during playtime or in response to environmental stimuli. This can manifest as running around, chasing imaginary prey, or exhibiting bursts of energy. However, if a cat is excessively hyperactive or showing sudden changes in behavior, it's essential to consult a veterinarian to rule out any underlying health issues.
Yes, humans can eat bugs. In many cultures, insects are considered a delicacy and are a good source of protein, vitamins, and minerals. However, it's important to ensure that the bugs are safe to eat and have been prepared properly to avoid any health risks.
Why do your cats come to the bathroom with you?
They want attention so bad they will go anywhere with you. They're just generally very curious as to what's there and what you're doing there. My cat even tried to jump to the toilet seat and I was just not fast enough after pee-ing closing the toilet cover and flush. He fell into it -_-... I had to give him a very thorough bath... After that, I keep him OUTSIDE THE DOOR even if he follows me... Also my female cat LOVES to play with toilet paper. You just leave her with 1 roll of toilet paper and she'll smother it down to toilet paper heaven in the entire room, and it's really hard to vacuum it up off, and especially in just regular room with carpet, it's hard to sweep up...
Do female cats pee with their tail up like male cats do?
Female cats do not usually pee with their tails up like male cats do. Female cats squat low to the ground when they urinate, while male cats typically lift their tails and spray to mark their territory.
Maybe you have seen the question that asked, why do cats like olives. Olives? yes, i know. Cats like many strange things. but they do like to chew on plants in particular. it isn't suggested that you let them, even a type of flower, like honeysuckle. it can upset their stomach and make them throw up later. if they want something to chew on, i suggest buying some vitamin filled oat grass from the nearest pet store. it is MUCH better for them, and it will satisfy their chewing need
Some cats will also try to chew on some plants that aren't good for them as well as swallow parts that may get stuck in their intestines (in that case, they'll die with intestinal blockage) or cause kidney stones type thing (from flower pollen parts). So don't let them eat odd things unless you're perfectly sure it's a safe plant.
This woul be impossible. My cat can not open my bedroom door but if he wanted in he would keep pawing the door until it would get soooooooooo anoying that I would finally just open it. Then he runs through my room, jumps around, and meaws at the neiborhood cats. I don't know what to do either. Adding to the first post: This is a frequent complaint of cat owners. Some people use a small water gun to provide negative reinforcement. It's important to remain consistent in not giving the cat what it's looking for in the wee hours (affection, play, food) so that it may realize that waking you up will not produce the desired result. After waking, make an extra effort to provide whatever the cat was looking for in. If the behavior has been in place for a while it could be difficult to break the pattern but it's worth a try. Worst case scenario - buy a lock for your door ;-) I fixed this problem, sorta: I just put them in another room for the night with food/water/litterbox. They also learned to be less nocturnal and learned to just sleep while in there, and play when I let them out to the livingroom in the morning. they do wake up ua few times overnight since I can still sorta hear them if they get rough, but since I have two cats, they keep themselves busy playing together, so I don't worry too much. I'm one of those kinds who CAN'T sleep with even a bit of shake on the bed (like cats jump up and down the bed). I tried to be nice to them, but now the bedroom is completely off limits to them. They are only allowed to enter if the door's open. And sometimes I leave them out in the livingroom for the night for the treat, but the moment they start pawing on the door I put them in their usual night room. And that keeps them from pawing on the door usually, they learn not to paw since they don't want to be in smaller room. I had to do this segregation thing (some people think it's mean but it was inevitable) not because of the sleeping problem but because of the neighbors. I lived in the apartment complex when I first got them and we were on the second floor. These kittens were so excited and soooo playful, and when I just let them loose overnight and such, they'd RUN AROUND EVERYWHERE. It sounded like horses galloping from the 1st floor ceiling... During the day everyone downstairs was out for work/school so it was fine but during night times... yeah... neighbor complaints. Not to mention, even my husband who's a sound-sleeper couldn't sleep because for SOME REASON my kittens didn't quite learn to control speed of their running back then, they'd RUN INTO WALLS AND FURNITURES even while running on the carpet. And We got so worried after one kitten ran into some heavy object on the floor which fell side ways (it takes me quite a push to have it fall side-ways actually, i really wonder how fast she was running to run into it and push it and have it fall sideways! because it's a bottom heavy with broader base... and short object). So We got worried they'd hurt themselves + neighbor complaints, we had to confine them and it kind of made them a little bit sad, but also made them a lot calmer. After that they learned to sleep when we sleep (or at least make an effort to sleep as when we do), and play during the day. And when I let them out in the morning, they're SO DELIGHTED and it makes their day everyday ^_^;;;
What is the average cost of having a cat?
The average cost of owning a cat can range from $500 to $1,000 per year, depending on factors like food, litter, vet visits, and grooming. Initial expenses like adoption fees, spaying/neutering, and supplies can add to the total cost.
How do thunderstorms affect animals?
Thunderstorms can impact animals in various ways. Some animals may seek shelter to protect themselves from the loud noises of thunder and the bright flashes of lightning. Others may become more active or restless during a storm. Additionally, heavy rain and strong winds associated with thunderstorms can disrupt animal habitats and cause flooding, potentially affecting their food sources and nesting sites.
What are some common words cats say?
MEOW. NYA~ (my male cat never finishes meow. he just says nya nya nya really short...) Nyaaaaaong (my female cat sorta drags it and makes a nasal sound at the end)
What age should kittens leave their mother?
A minimum of 12 weeks is best. NO LESS THAN 12 WEEKS. Many people think between 6 to 8 weeks, but in between those few weeks the kittens immune system and many other body functions start improving or working on their own. Before this age, the kitten didn't have to do anything but lay close to the mother and nurse! The queen (mother cat) even cleaned up after the infant and by six weeks old, weaning has usually only just begun and can last until the kitten is ten weeks old.
Kittens that leave their mother this young can become very sick and even die. Not to scare anyone but even though kittens can be VERY CUTE at 6 weeks don't take one home that young! You will be much happier to have a healthy silly kitten that's a little older, than a sick, helpless newborn.
Another reason is social skills. Kittens that are six to eight weeks old have not learned any important socialisation or behaviour skills yet. Kittens learn from eight weeks onwards. During this time kittens will learn how to play and interact with their littermates, mother and any other animals and humans in the house.
They will learn what behaviour is acceptable and what is not from their mother, and will learn how to play and share with their littermates. They will also learn about grooming and litterbox use at this crucial time. Most kittens are well socialised by the time they are twelve weeks old, and are very likely to grow into very gentle and affectionate pets. Responsible breeders refuse to let their kittens go to new homes before twelve to fourteen weeks.
Because they either are very nervous or they eat their food too quickly. or both. If a cat is nervous or uncomfortable, then he or she might eat their food quickly and swallow a lot of air whilst doing so. concluding to excess gas that smells of the food which turns into a very smell fart. Smelly!
Is it safe for my cat to go into my garage where I spilled a small amount of pellitized lime?
No it is absolutely not safe for your cat to go into the garage with pellitized lime on the floor. Quickly wet a rag and wash your cats paws because cats are great groomers and will lick their paws and groom themselves.
Clean up the lime immediately! If you spill liquids that could be dangerous to pets then use clumping kitty litter to soak it up and clean off the rest with Dawn dish soap which has a degreaser in it.
How long until kittens eat solid food?
Usually about 4 weeks. They often mimic the mother when she is eating. They go over to her dish and look at her eating. Also milk being supplied from the queen (female cat) is decreasing. This helps spur the baby kittens to try water and food.
What are some signs that your cat will have kittens soon?
Pregnancy is 9 weeks. I can confirm my cat is pregnant at 5 weeks. Up until that point I'm unsure. At the end of pregnancy they will start to bag up....her breasts will enlarge and fill with milk........also she will start to look for places to have them....also she is likely to sit about alot more, prior to labour. When labour starts she could be restless and more vocal than usual....or she could simply disappear and go off and have them somewhere. Unless you saw your cat mating and write it down on the calendar there is no way of guessing how long she has to go to delivery day. If unsure keep her in the house and prepare the area you want her to deliver in. Guessing when she is due by how large she gets is not much help as you don't know how many kittens she has inside her.
Like people who knows why our pets suddenly do something strange. Use vinegar and warm water and spray onto the carpet to neutralize the odor. Then stand ready with a clean spray bottle of cold water and if you can catch her pooping on that same spot give her a shot of water and that should stop her from doing this. Also pick up the poop and put it in her litter box, then carry her over to it and say 'good girl.' Cats are more intelligent than some people give them credit for.
What also is true is that Cats are smart enough that they'll wait until you look away and do it right there. Sometimes it's just impossible to camp for the cat in the same spot even for 24/7 housekeeper.
There's a product that kind of lets out pressurized air with a motion censor. I can't really remember what it's called at the moment. But you could try placing that thing right there so if the cat gets close by, it'll be ambushed by it. It doesn't squirt water or anything. Just pressurized air or something, and it feels like squirted water only because it's sprayed on the pet. Not harmful to your pet. ^_^ But it's a little pricey...
I seriously considered getting that product and place it right next to the stove, because my cats somehow learned to get up on the kitchen counter and walk right over to the stove area since it's "warm" during winter times... But shortly after I had to move and in this home the cats can't reach it. So I didn't buy it (so i can't remember the name)
How do you switch a cat from eating one brand of food to another?
You introduce the new brand a spoonful at a time with the old cat food for approximately a week tapering off of the old food a very little bit at a time. This goes for both tinned or dry cat foods. This lets the cat's intestinal tract adjust to the new food.
You may need a longer litter box. I bought just a plain plastic one at a hardware store or places like Walmart or Zellers. Then use clumping kitty litter and be sure to clean out the kitty litter box every day with a slotted scooper and bag it and throw it in the garbage. Many cats don't like dirty litter boxes and I own one! LOL
Answer
Sometimes the cats just get impatient and want to get over with bathroom and get out there and play. I've even heard of a case where the owner bought the big litter box with cover over it so the kitty litter won't be everywhere on the floor. The cat simply just poked his head in, pretended that he's "inside" and pooped outside. So it's really your kitty thinking to itself "oh, I'm relieved" and thinking it's the right place. After all, the front half is in! -_-;;; My cat was getting bigger and his left foot was hanging out of the litter box (he wouldn't go all the way in), and sometimes the peed half in and half out of the box. These things happen. That's why I got top-entry litter box! He can't just pretend to be inside or not. He has to go inside to see the litter. If your cat continues to pee outside the box even with this box, then it's behavioral problem (your cat just doesn't want to go to litter box to pee) rather than litter box problem.
Simply get a litter box with taller sides.
you could get a dome litter box, one with a lid. then the cat's pee would hit the side of the box instead of going outside of it.
Can a cat tell when something is wrong with their food?
of course! cats have a very good sense of smell. they can smell poisen, mold, etc. in practicly anything, including their food But some kittens are a bit inexperienced, and if they're too hungry, they'll try eating something a lil bit going bad (like canned food that has been sitting more than 2 hours and such). So watch out and don't forget to change out even if they don't finish their wet food! (just toss the left over or buy smaller can next time - in my case i just gave them half the can and refrigerated the other half covered, then gave that to them for the next meal on the same day)
What is the temperament of a Siamese cross?
i have found that Siamese are very tempermental, and protective. Love your Siamese, and she will honor your word until judgement day when your lying. (hopefully that makes sense). they love attention. but don't fail to deliver, or they wiil shun you... they are the royalty, i think, of the feline species
Cats purr as a means of communication, showing contentment, relaxation, or as a self-soothing mechanism when stressed. The vibration of purring has been found to have potential health benefits, such as pain relief and promoting healing.
All cats will attack if they feel "threatened". but it depends on the cat's temperament and environment he grew up as to how much would fall into "threatening" category.

My cat hasn't eaten for almost 2 weeks. How can I encourage her to eat?
You should really get her to a vet to get checked out because if she is not eating then there is something wrong with her. When my cat wasnt eating i took her to the vet and she had a cold they gave her atibiotic, pills and the put her on iv that cost about $105 it's not normal for a cat not eating 2 weeks... shouldn't you be worried?
