Actually, yes. ALL super sport Chevelles were Malibu's. From 1966-1969 the SS396 was actually it's own model and had it's own VIN code, but they were still built on the Malibu trim package platform. In '64-'65 and '70-'72 the super sport Chevelles shared the same VIN code as the Malibu, for example, a 1970 Malibu coupe has a VIN code of 13637. A 1970 Chevelle SS coupe has the same VIN code, 13637. The same is true for convertibles and El camino's. So while the '69 SS396 was never actually called a Malibu SS396, technically it IS a Malibu in SS396 trim.

Disconnect the battery and partially drain the radiator. Remove the two bolts that hold the water neck to the intake manifold and remove the water neck. Pull out the thermostat and replace. Make sure big side is down. Clean gasket surface and replace gasket. Use a thin layer of silicone gasket sealer if you want to, but it isn't necessary if both gasket surfaces are smooth. Assembly is the reverse of dis-assembly.

Disconnect the battery. Remove the outer bolt entirely. Loosen the inner bolt. Slide the starter shim in over the inner bolt and line it up with the outer bolt hole to get the outer bolt back in. Tighten the bolts. Start with a thin shim first and work your way bigger if needed.

Yes,first remove the top of the dash,then the bezel that covers the cluster and the radio and such,unplug the cluster, remove the screwes that mount it,look at the back of the cluster and twist the little bulb holder.

It just screws out with a socket wrench, only one wire to worry about, I think you can manage just fine by yourself

Yes it will, but it will obviously look different because the '71 has 4 round tail lights and the '70 has two rectangular tail lights. You might need to change to the 1971 real valance panel as well because the bottom of the 1970 bumper is a little less pointed.

Interchangeable with what? Nearly all of the body and interior parts interchange with a 1971 Chevelle. Most of the body and interior interchanges with a 1970 Chevelle as well. Rear axle interchanges with ANY '68-'72 GM A body. Engine and transmission interchanges with any Chevy from the 1950's up to the 1990s at least. Front suspension also interchanges with ALL GM A bodies. All small block radiators are interchangeable. All big block radiators are interchangeable. It all really depends on what part you are trying to use/replace.

It all depends on the shape it's in and what engine and options on it, you need to get it appraised.
