All this, and they raised the price of their worse products (under the slogan of inflation)! Thus gradually, US manufacturing firms went over-seas to both Europe and Asia, where products were constructed with more "attention to detail" at more affordable prices." When Nixon went to Communist China in 1972, it was a "cold war" move designed to lower the aspect of nuclear war & ending the Vietnam War...by cracking the ice of the cold war, and leading to peace and future good relations...thus today the US has a trading relationship with Communist China.

After so many generations of global trade, to include China, the US still maintains it's monopoly as a consumer. A boycott of "ALL" Chinese goods "could" cause a negative chain reaction in the quality of the consumers life-style...a shortage now, later as the shortage is lessoned; higher prices and less products for the American consumer. A throw back to the 1960's and 1970's when American's paid more and got less.
