sounds funny but check your brake lamp switch at the top of the brake pedal as the computer will reduce power to the low pressure fuel tank in the boot - this is activated by the brake pedal - so check correct operation of your brake lights & bulbs this will give first clue. other wise the usuals like fuel filter etc

Under the airfilterbox. there is only one screw holding it place together with the lid.
The screw are on the front of the airintakehose. ondo that, take of the lid, and with a little fiddeling it will come out. The startermotor are facing the gearbox and the connections are at the back of it, but it can be seen clearly from the top.

The brake lights will be fused through the ABS circuit.
However, if you are looking for this information i assume none of your brake lights are working. If one brake light is out it will be the bulb, look back through this section a few weeks to find out how to remove the rear light cluster.
If all your brake lights are out but you are not getting an ABS fault on the display then it is a faulty brake switch. This is located behind the dash mounted near the top of the brake pedal, it is a cheap and easy to replace item. If the fuse for your brake lights was blown then it would also knock out the ABS and you would have a fault on the display and a warning light on the dash. In which case a trip to your local dealership would be in order as this would be beyond your ability to diagnose.

I have found the same thing. It is such a problem that unless I can improve the display I will be getting rid of the car asap in case I get speeding tickets.
On right hand side of steering wheel, next to rear window switches, are two switches showing a big and small light on it. Press the switch with the big light on it to increase the brightness of the dashboard lightning. Is this what you wanted to know?

What are common faults on the Citroen Picasso?
the xsara Picasso's are quite reliable, which shows in that it is one of Citroen's longest running models and underwent very few changes it was only recently phased out to be replaced by the less reliable C4 picasso.
It depends on which Picasso you are on about and which engine. the C4 Picasso petrols are known for lambda sensor faults and had quite a lot of recalls for various problems. the diesel engines can be prone to emission control system faults or DPF as it is known.
the Xsara Picasso as I say was very reliable with no real common faults. if it is a looked after car it will give years of service and it is not unknown for them to go for 200k+ in the diesel and 150k+ petrols I used to work for citroen and we serviced a few Xsara Pic diesels with 300 400k on the clock and one even had over 500k on the clock but that was on its second engine as the first one blew up at 150k due to customer overfilling oil. the 2.0HDI 110hp unit is probably Citroens finest diesel engine and the block is still used as the base for many of its current diesel engines.

Just replaced the fan belt on my citroen xsara. The problem I had was increasing the tension. I eventually sorted it by Loosening bolt on tensioner with a T45 TRX key. The tensioner can now slide up/down to increase/decrease tension. When new fan belt is on correctly, to get a nice tight belt rotate large nut on tensioner with a socket. I used an adjustable pipe wrench as i did not have a socket big enough.
- Do not have a diagram for fan belt but will try to explain. 3 pulleys and 1 tensioner. Place belt over near side pulley and rear pulley.
- Next from bottom of near pulley run the belt over top of the tensioner.
- The belt goes around the back of the tensioner and comes forward towards you around the third pulley.
- That's it
- Now tighten her up.
- Hope this makes since.

the battery is under the passenger seat. However, it wouldn't be recommended to have jump leads going into your car.
there should be a red cover with a plus sign or it's fell off, there should be two terminals with wires going to it.
Place the red lead on there and the black lead to the bonnet release catch.

If this occurs under heavy braking (i.e. ABS has kicked in), then the hazard lights will start flashing. They will turn themselves off after a few seconds of normal driving.
