**Not only did the CRM help black people, it helped other disenfranchised groups obtain various rights, most notably women (of all races). Other subsequent movements were inspired by the American CRM. Even in the new millennium, those in favor of the rights of Mexicans in the United States were videotaped holding hands, swaying, & singing "We Shall Overcome."
Black women were only allowed to vote in the first fully democratic elections in South Africa, which occurred on the 27th of April, 1994. Previously, they were denied the vote by a discriminatory and oppressive set of laws known as Apartheid.
The civil rights made it so we could get more freedom in the united states during slavery and Segregation. Like the 14th amendment.
The Civil rights movement also meant that Black people and other ethnic minorities have equal rights as whites and can now have equal opportunities.
Since the Civil War (1860-1865) African-Americans still were treated unjustly. With the South's "Jim Crowe" laws that stated that African Americans were equal but separate. This meant they did not have the same rights as the majority of people. They had to drink from fountains labeled "Negroes only," or could not stay at a reputable hotel, even had bathrooms labeled "Negroes only." They also could not go to the same school with whites. In the 1950's and 1960's, the African-Americans were represented by two powerful speaking men Malcolm X and Rev Dr. Martin Luther King. On June 6, 1963, President John F. Kennedy urged the nation to take action toward guaranteeing equal treatment of every American regardless of race on national T.V. Soon after, Kennedy proposed that Congress consider civil rights legislation that would address voting rights, public accommodations, school desegregation, nondiscrimination in federally assisted programs, and more.
Despite Kennedy's assassination in November of 1963, his proposal culminated in the Civil Rights Act of 1964, signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson just a few hours after House approval on July 2, 1964. The act outlawed segregation in businesses such as theaters, restaurants, and hotels. It banned discriminatory practices in employment and ended segregation in public places such as swimming pools, libraries, and public schools.
Passage of the act was not easy. House opposition bottled up the bill in the House Rules Committee. In the Senate, opponents attempted to talk the bill to death in a filibuster. In early 1964, House supporters overcame the Rules Committee obstacle by threatening to send the bill to the floor without committee approval. The Senate filibuster was overcome through the floor leadership of Senator Hubert Humphrey of Minnesota, the considerable support of President Lyndon B. Johnson, and the efforts of Senate Minority Leader Everett Dirksen of Illinois, who convinced Republicans to support the bill.
Three important people come to mind as important people in the US civil rights movement. Sadly both of them were assassinated. The men were Martin Luther King Jr. and Medgar Evers. Also, Rosa Parks also was an important figure.

Well there are several disadvantages and critique about the praised diversity in corporations.
1) Reversed discrimination - basically means that the 'regular and indiverse' people who might be more professional are not hired in favor of a person of a minority of an ethnic group, gender, age or sexual orientation.
2) People with significantly different backgrounds might have cultural or other barriers to co-work efficiently
3) Some critics argue that diversity management programs nowadays are ran in order to achieve a better reputation or financial goals, forsaking the basic aim - social fairness
4) Lastly there is almost no empirical evidence of the usefulness for the company of implementing diversity, just theoretical, arguments of necessity.
Of course You can make a much bigger list of advantages, appealing to human rights and social equality, but some of the specific advantages of diversity are:
Better idea generating
Understanding of many cultures and social groups
Diversity might create an internal education and development of employees among colleagues
An image of a 'caring' company
