What is the balance equation for the complete combustion of coconut oil in air?
The balanced equation for the complete combustion of coconut oil (CnH2nO2) in air (O2) is: CnH2nO2 + (3n + 1) O2 → n CO2 + (n + 1) H2O, where n is the number of carbon atoms in the coconut oil molecule.
What is the balance equation for the complete combustion of coconut oil?
The balanced equation for the complete combustion of coconut oil, which is mainly composed of triglycerides, is C₃H₅(OCOC₁₇H₃₅)₃ + 47O₂ → 27CO₂ + 22H₂O. This equation represents the reaction where the triglycerides in coconut oil react with oxygen to produce carbon dioxide and water.
What are the boiling point and melting point viscosity and surface tension of coconut oil?
Boiling point of coconut oil is approximately 177°C, melting point is around 24°C. Viscosity of coconut oil is typically low when warmed, and higher when cooled. The surface tension of coconut oil is around 28.3 mN/m.
Is coconut oil a liquid measurement or a weight measurement?
Coconut oil is usually measured by weight, commonly in tablespoons or grams, rather than as a liquid measurement like milliliters or fluid ounces. This is because the density of coconut oil can vary, so it is more accurate to measure it by weight.
The amount of coconut oil needed depends on the recipe you are making. Generally, a typical serving size is around 15ml (1 tablespoon) of coconut oil for cooking or baking purposes.
What is the chemical formula of the most abundant soap using coconut oil?
The most abundant soap made from coconut oil is sodium cocoate, which has the chemical formula C57H110O6Na.
Is coconut oil soluble in ethyl alcohol?
Yes, coconut oil is soluble in ethyl alcohol to some extent, as both are nonpolar substances. However, the solubility may be limited depending on the concentration of coconut oil and alcohol in the mixture.
How do you stop solidification of coconut oil during winter season?
One way to prevent coconut oil from solidifying during the winter season is to store it in a slightly warmer area, such as near a heat source or in a kitchen cabinet rather than the refrigerator. Alternatively, you can warm the coconut oil in a bowl of hot water or in the microwave for a few seconds to liquify it before use.
What is the solute and solvent of a coconut oil?
In coconut oil, the solute is the mixture of fatty acids like lauric acid, caprylic acid, and capric acid. The solvent in coconut oil is primarily triglycerides, which are the medium-chain fatty acids that make up the majority of the oil.
Explain how liquid detergent emulsifies coconut oil and water?
Liquid detergent consists of a hydrophilic sulphurous head and a hydrophobic hydrocarbon tail. When detergent is added to coconut oil and water, the head dissolves in water and the tail dissolves in the oil. When the water is agitated, the coconut oil begins to emulsify because the charges on the surface of the coconut oil are now the same, repelling each other, forming globules.
What would be the reaction of litmus paper if it was tested on fresh coconut oil?
Rancid oil turns blue litmus paper to red; red to red, hence, it is said to be acidic. Fresh coconut oil turns blue litmus paper to blue; red to red, hence it is neutral. However, it turns acidic when exposed to air causing the litmus paper to become red.
Where is the largest coconut oil plantation in the Philippines?
The largest coconut oil plantation in the Philippines is located in the province of Quezon, particularly in the municipality of Dolores. It covers a significant area dedicated to coconut cultivation and oil production.
What is the odor of coconut oil in acrolein test?
Coconut oil will produce a pungent, unpleasant smell similar to burnt plastic or rotten eggs when subjected to the acrolein test. This indicates the presence of unsaturated fatty acids in the oil that can undergo thermal degradation to form acrolein, a volatile aldehyde with a strong, distinctive odor.
How is coconut oil good for your hair?
the advantages are
if your hair is dry it moisturizes your hair and prevents split ends
it gives a good shine , smell and texture to your hair
the disadvantages are
it depends in hair if it is going to suit you
I am a layman, and took Chemistry course over 40 years ago, so this answer will be temporary until a Chemist can improve it. I suspect that in the first test tube [oil and water only] that there probably will be a partial break-up of the oil and some mixing into the water, but this will be temporary until the oil seperates, floats to the surface, and partially recombines. In the case of the second test tube [oil, water, and soap] that the soap will reduce the surface tension of the oil, allowing it to break up into smaller particles, and possibly form a stable, or at least simi-stable emulsion in the water.
How much does one gallon of coconut oil weigh?
"It should weight 8lbs, because you have 128 oz to one gallon and it takes 16 oz to make one pound. Not sure what the gallon itself weighs."
NO! Liquid ounces do not equal weight ounces!
I gallon of coconut oil is approximately 9 pounds.
Does coconut oil help heal celiac disease?
Celiac disease is caused by a reaction to gliadin, a gluten protein found in wheat (and similar proteins of the tribe Triticeae which includes other cultivars such as barley and rye).
PURE coconut oil will not contain any gliadin and thus should be safe for celiacs to eat.
Why does coconut oil become rancid?
Coconut oil can spoil, or become rancid. This usually occurs when proper storage techniques are not used. Heat is the main reason coconut oil spoils so it should be stored in a cool, dark place.
no but never use anything for a substitute for lube, that will cause a terrible infection, so i hope your lucky and don't get one but if you want to avoid pain invest in some lube it isn't expensive and possible prelubed condoms
Coconut milk is the liquid expressed from treating grated coconut meat and water. It may contains 30-40% of coconut fat with other dispersed solids, and small amount of sugars and proteins. The coconut fat is stabilized in an emulsion form due to the presence of cocosin - the main protein in coconuts. The emulsion is not too stable. When heat processed inside the can, destabilization usually occurs. It is recommended to shake well the can before opening - if not, fat separation will be present at the top of the can. Refrigerate or freeze coconut milk to preserve it for future use. Shake/stir well prior to use again.
