Can you get the flu by being in cold temperatures?
No. The flu is caused by an infectious organism (viruses) not temperature.
When you hear the word 'Epidemic' usually it's referring to a disease, but an epidemic isn't always a disease. Poverty, for example, could be considered an epidemic, and it is not a disease, unlike the Spanish Flu or Smallpox.
Are pigs bad for starting the Swine Flu?
No, they didn't do it on purpose.
They just got sick with the kind of swine flu they usually get but then that flu mutated together with the bird flu and some human flu strains into the Novel H1N1 (2009 Swine flu). Because pigs are very similar physiologically to humans, their genetic material was easier to change into a strain of flu that humans can get. This can only typically happen when pigs, humans, and in this case also birds are in very close physical contact, such as in a barn or barnyard. When you look at it this way, and since humans are responsible for keeping them in over crowded conditions, you might more correctly say that Humans are bad for starting the swine flu by keeping them all too crowded.

How long does a cold virus live in your home?
It can last up to 2 weeks. The length of time that cold or flu germs can survive outside the body on an environmental surface, such as a doorknob, varies greatly. But the suspected range is from a few seconds to 48 hours - depending on the specific virus and the type of surface.
Flu viruses tend to live longer on surfaces than cold viruses do. Also, it's generally believed that cold and flu viruses live longer on nonporous surfaces - such as plastic, metal or wood - than they do on porous surfaces - such as fabrics, skin or paper.

How soon can you catch a cold or virus from someone?
The only way you can become sick is if you or someone else touches your face, or an open wound after touching a bacteria or virus. My advice to you is don't touch your face if you can help it. Unless you touched your face, or something else touched it for you, you will not get sick. If you do have a virus or bacteria in you, symptoms will likely show up in about 12-24 hours.
Keep in mind, I am answering this question with only my personal experience for a source. Also, once I asked my doctor how he kept from getting all his patients' illnesses, and he told me, "Wash your hands and don't touch your face." .
If you're interested, here is some of the logic on the whole face situation: In order to get sick, the virus or bacteria must enter your body. (Duh) The only way it can manage this is to get into your body through a hole in your body (i.e. eyes, mouth, nose, ears, open wounds). If there is no hole, there is no virus. Therefore, the only vulnerable place on your body to sickness is your face or anywhere there is an open wound.
Hope this helps!!

Why an influenzae vaccine prevents you from becoming sick with the flu?
The vaccine puts dead flu cells into your body. Because the cells are very weak, you immune system can completely kill that virus. After you immune system kills the virus, antibodies are still left over in your blood stream. So, if you are exposed to the flu, the already made antibodies can kill the flu virus before it spreads and gets too serious for your immune system to overcome.
Influenza, or the flu, is a very serious disease. It can kill people, especially very old or very young people who have weaker immune systems.
I am at the moment and all is fine
Will your sore throat go away with Tylenol sore throat?
Tylenol sore throat medicine should effectively take away the feeling of a sore throat. What it will not do is fix the problem causing the sore throat, this medicine is purely for symptom relief. Although, these kinds of medicines can sometimes help you get better faster by allowing you to sleep through the night, or reduce coughing fits, etc. But, if your illness is not causing you to lose sleep or interfering substantially with your day then you are usually better off just dealing with the sore throat, as there are side effects associated with all drugs. Try a Halls cough drop or something not medicated instead. If you do decide you need to take medicine like Tylenol (acetaminophine), then ensure that:
- don't take excessive ammounts (read label warnings)
- don't drink ANY alcohol
- don't take any other medicines without first talking to your medical doctor or pharmacist
Common side effects of acetaminophine (Tylenol) are:
Constipation; diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; excitability; headache; loss of appetite; nausea; nervousness or anxiety; trouble sleeping; upset stomach; vomiting; weakness.
(Common side effects are usually defined as those side effects that occur to at least 2% of people who take the drug)
