How can someone with flu infect someone else?
The flu is spread when infected people speak, sneeze or cough sending infected droplets through the air and we inhale that air.
The virus can also be picked up by our hands after touching doorknobs, counters, handrails, escalator rails, pencils or any object.
An infected person can sneeze into their hands thinking they are containing their infected droplets, then open a door depositing the germs on the door knob. The next person opens the door and gets the germs on his own hands then touches his nose or mouth completing the transmission.
What are some alternative medicine treatments for the A H1N1 09 flu?
Can flu vaccine in adults be given in 2 divided doses?
no that's unethical because the mixtures would then be uneven as to cause a null function in the preventative process.

Can you take Tylenol because your arm hurts after the flu shot?
If you see slight swelling and redness at the area of the injection and that is what hurts, it would be okay to take acetaminophen (Tylenol) to help with the discomfort for a few days.
If the area looks more swollen or red as time passes or the soreness lasts longer than a few days, then you should contact your health care professional for advice.
Some people find a warm compress on the area helps ease the soreness. But, to make it hurt less the quickest way, the best thing to do is to use the arm, although you may not want to if it is sore. Moving the muscles where the vaccine was injected helps them recover quicker with improved blood flow. It is best to start using the arm as soon as you have the vaccination and you will have much less soreness. Some people always request that the vaccination be given in their dominant arm so they will have no choice but to use it following the injection and they find either no soreness or reduced soreness when they do.

How many cases of swine flu are there in Tularosa New Mexico?
New Mexico is no longer keeping count and neither are other states. There may be some ongoing cases in limited locations around the world, including in New Mexico. However, the specifics and counts of cases are no longer being tracked by CDC, WHO, the US states, and most other countries, now that the pandemic has been declared over. Influenza cases are monitored, but specific H1N1/09 counts (and the lab tests needed to isolate the specific virus to be able to count them correctly) aren't being done. Influenza cases in general are monitored, but statistics are not being kept for H1N1/09 cases separately from other influenza types for reporting any longer in the post pandemic phase.
What side effect does the H1N1 vaccine have on an unborn child?
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the inactivated ("dead") virus vaccines for pregnant women. The nasal mists containing live weakened virus is not approved for pregnant women. The risk to the unborn fetus was considered in the trials and approval process. The guidance from the CDC is very clear that the risk of not getting vaccinated against A-H1N1/09 to pregnant women and their unborn fetus is much greater than the risk of using the vaccines. Obstetricians are recommending H1N1/09 vaccinations to their patients. The vaccine is made exactly like the seasonal flu shots have been made for decades with a proven safety record, so there is no reason to think the same vaccine made with inert particles from a different virus strain would prove any less safe.
The following are excerpts from a September 3, 2009guidance document from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 2009 H1N1 Influenza Vaccine and Pregnant Women:
Influenza vaccines have not been shown to cause harm to a pregnant woman or her baby. The seasonal flu shot (injection) is proven as safe and already recommended for pregnant women. The 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine will be made using the same processes and facilities that are used to make seasonal influenza vaccines.
It is important for a pregnant woman to receive the 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine as well as a seasonal influenza vaccine. A pregnant woman who gets any type of flu is at risk for serious complications and hospitalization. Pregnant women who are otherwise healthy have been severely impacted by the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus (formerly called "novel H1N1 flu" or "swine flu"). In comparison to the general population, a greater proportion of pregnant women infected with the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus have been hospitalized. In addition, severe illness and death has occurred in pregnant women. Six percent of confirmed fatal 2009 H1N1 flu cases thus far have been in pregnant women while only about 1% of the general population is pregnant. While hand washing, staying away from ill people, and other steps can help to protect pregnant women from influenza, vaccination is the single best way to protect against the flu.
There are two types of flu vaccine. Pregnant women should get the "flu shot"- an inactivated vaccine (containing fragments of killed influenza virus) that is given with a needle, usually in the arm. The flu shot is approved for use in pregnant women. The other type of flu vaccine - nasal-spray flu vaccine (sometimes called LAIV for "live attenuated influenza vaccine)-is not currently approved for use in pregnant women. This vaccine is made with live, weakened flu viruses that do not cause the flu). LAIV (FluMist®) is approved for use in healthy* people 2-49 years of age who are not pregnant. In addition to protecting her from infection, infants less than 6 months old will not be able to be vaccinated so it is recommended that everyone who lives with or provides care for infants less than 6 months of age receive both the seasonal influenza vaccine and 2009 H1N1 influenza monovalent vaccine to provide protection for the infant.
One recent study conducted in Bangladesh, assessed the effectiveness of influenza immunization for mothers and their young infants. Inactivated influenza vaccine reduced proven influenza illness by 63% in infants up to 6 months of age. This study confirmed that maternal influenza immunization is a strategy with substantial benefits for both mothers and infants. There is no evidence that thimerosal (used as a preservative in vaccine packaged in multi-dose vials) is harmful to a pregnant woman or a fetus. However, because some women are concerned about exposure to preservatives during pregnancy, manufacturers will produce preservative-free seasonal and 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccines in single dose syringes for pregnant women and small children. CDC recommends that pregnant women may receive influenza vaccine with or without thimerosal. People for whom the 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine is recommended should receive it, even if they have had an influenza-like illness previously, unless they can be certain they had 2009 H1N1 influenza based on a laboratory test that can specifically detect 2009 H1N1 viruses. CDC recommends that persons who were tested for 2009 H1N1 influenza discuss this issue with a healthcare provider to see if the test they had was either an RT-PCR or a viral culture that showed 2009 H1N1 influenza. There is no harm in being vaccinated if you had 2009 H1N1 influenza in the past.
Pregnant women are encouraged to get vaccinated against the flu. As always, when pregnant, check with your obstetrician before taking any medication.
You should not get the vaccine if you are allergic to eggs** or sulfa drugs. Inform your health care professional if you have ever had a severe (life-threatening) allergy to eggs or to any other substance in a vaccine (some vaccines contain traces of neoporin, gentamicin and polymixin).
**New studies show that an allergy to eggs, or other chicken proteins, may not prohibit some people from getting a flu vaccination. See the related questions for more information.

Lwhat is the dossage of Oil of oregano for sore throat?
3-5 drops 3-5 times a day in a bit of juice, water or honey.
If someone was exposed to swine flu can they give it to you before their symptoms show up?
It is possible. They can be infective for around one, maybe two days prior to the onset of their symptoms. Be on guard at all times to follow the safety precautions and avoid contact with potential for catching the flu. This is why handwashing whether you believe you have been exposed or not is so very important for prevention.

Is Azithral-500 useful to prevent Swine Flu?
No, it isn't because Azithral - 500 is an antibiotic. Antibiotics work to kill bacterial infections, but they do not work at all on viral infections such as Swine Flu (A-H1N1/09 Virus).
(See the related questions for additional information about treating swine flu.)
If the cough has lasted more than 3 - 4 days and is deep within the chest please see your doctor. You don't want to get Bronchitis, Pneumonia or a sinus infection. Your doctor may prescribe something to keep the airways open and clear, but there is nothing to get rid of an actual cold. The natural source my grandmother brought my brother and I up on was Brandy (just a teaspoon when we were kids) with 2 tsps. of honey and boiling water and we'd sip on this. Keep the room cooler as warm to hot rooms can dry out the air. Keep yourself warm by wearing sweaters or cuddle up under a warm blanket. If you have no control over the heat then put bowls of water around (you'll be surprised at how quickly it evaporates) or if you can afford it get a humidifier. Sleep propped up a little so your sinus' don't drain down the back of your throat (this can cause a sore throat.) If your immune system is strong the immune system deals with the cold on it's own time.

Is the swine flu in New Ash Green Kent UK?
It was reported in a Sevenoaks Chronicle ThisisKent.co.ukarticle in the June 13 edition that there had been a case of confirmed Novel H1N1 in a man in Sevenoaks. This was the first case in Sevenoaks and the third in the area of West Kent. Two children had been tested positive for this "swine" influenza in an ongoing investigation into an outbreak at a boarding school in Berkshire and were at that time recovering at home under treatment with anti-viral medications. The latest case, in Sevenoaks, was the parent of a child from the New Beacon School in Brittians Lane. This was during half term, so the school did not have to be closed, but the child was kept from the school during any potential incubation period and has not fallen ill. According to school officials there is currently no further danger of spread from those cases.
