What do religions believe about the trinity?
The Trinity is a central doctrine of the entire Christian Church, both Roman Catholic and all Protestant denominations. This means that, as well as Roman Catholics believing in the Trinity, The Trinity is central to the beliefs of Presbyterians, Pentecostals, Anglicans, Episcopalians, Baptists, Methodists, URC, Salvation Army, Lutherans and all other denominations.
The only groups that deny the Trinity are groups that are regarded as pseudoChristian sects by the Christian church. These include the mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses and similar groups.
What is the difference between the Catholic and the Episcopalian Church?
In principle, there are very few differences. Episcopals are part of the Anglican Communion and thus adhere to Anglican rites (and retain such things from Catholicism as Apostolic succession, etc. which only some Lutherans do), but theologically they are so similar that in North America they have ecumenical agreements with each other such as CCM (called to common mission) and in Europe they have the Porvoo agreement. In Australia, however, there is essentially just one level of the Lutheran church, whereas the Anglican (i.e. equivalent of the American Episcopalian) is divided into 2 levels: "High Anglican" and "Low Anglican". The Lutheran church lies somewhere in between with its application of liturgy and the Sacrament. High Anglican in Australia is almost on a par with the Roman Cathloic church, with regard to its use of formalities, chanted liturgy, rites and ceremonies. "Low Anglican" is more liberal than the lutheran church in its beliefs.
Difference between Christian God and Jewish God?
Jews practice Monotheism (only one God). Most Christian denominations practice Trinitarianism (three gods in one) and some Christian denominations believe in Tritheism (three distinct and separate gods).
Christianity and Judaism are two of the three great monotheistic religions, the third being Islam.
Answer 2
No Christian denomination practices Trinitarianism in the sense stated in the answer above for no Christian believes in more than one God or god. All Christians believe in only one God or they would not be Christian.
All Christian churches believe in the doctrine of the trinity as stated in the Apostles, Nicene, and particularly the Athanasian creeds.
Note that in the text of the Athanasian creed the word Catholic means Christian, not Roman Catholic as it means today. In other words, the Athanasian creed was a statement of Christian doctrine, to combat a number of errors which arose at that time, particularly Arianism, which taught that Jesus was not God.
What is a sentence for the word monotheism?
Christians and Jews are not infidels, according to Islam, but People of the Book because they practice monotheism.
I am a monotheist because I believe in one god.
What is the difference between Quakerism and Catholicism?
One way is because The Roman Catholic Church requires members to take part in Holy Communion and believes such worship MUST be led by an authorised Priest. Quakers do not believe that Communion is necessary for spiritual enlightenment and neither is a Priest needed to lead worship.
How old is the Pentecostal Holiness Church?
The age of Holiness Pentecostal church is undetermined. But, the first congregation of Pentecostals, was also the first congregation of Christians. In the Upper Room was the first sanctuary, where Jesus told his followers to tarry. So, It's been awhile. :]
How we figure they're Pentecostal is they follow the signs. As do all Pentecostal churches.
By the way: Pentecostal comes from the day of Pentecost. The day when the Holy Ghost came from Heaven.
What other writings apart from the bible talk about jesus?
Flavius Josephus, Tacitus, the Church Fathers, the Babylonian Talmud, & Mandean scriptures.
No he did not. Scripture tells us that Jesus was born in Bethlehem, near Jerusalem. He went into exile in Egypt until it was safe for him to return. He then settled with his parents in Nazareth near Lake Tiberias (Galilee) following in his father's footsteps as a carpenter in that town. At around the age of 30, Jesus commenced his three year mission around Galilee and eventually in Jerusalem, where he was crucified. His resurrection took place three days later, and several sightings of him were made in that area and in Galilee after he returned there. Later he ascended to heaven. Therefore he did not leave that small area during the whole of his life. Mormons (a pseudo-Christian sect which holds beliefs that are against the Christian Church worldwide) would have us believe that Jesus appeared in the USA, but the book of Mormon was written just a couple of hundred years ago against the gospels which were written either by eyewitnesses to the events or by their close companions, very near to the time when the events happened. Therefore, the gospels are regarded as reliable sources of the history surrounding Christ, but the Book of Mormon is regarded as fiction (and rather poor fiction at that) by the whole of the Christian Church.
Can a cathlioc marry in a Christian church?
Theoretically, yes. However, such a mixed marriage would not get off to a great start. The Muslim religion insists that any children be raised as Muslims and the Catholic Church insists they be raised as Catholics.
Answer: Yes, a Catholic may marry a Muslim. However, if the person is a practising Muslim there will certainly be serious problems from the Muslim end. For a Catholic to marry a Muslim, apart from normal marriage preparation classes, and the promise by the Catholic party to try to raise any children as Catholics, the couple must seek permission from the bishop; this would be done by the priest involved. As one of the parties is non-Christian it would be permissable for the ceremony to take place somewhere other than in a church building.
Yes, but only if not previously married and agrees to Catholic party's oath to bring up children Catholic. Other impediments may apply as well.
.
Catholic AnswerNormally a Catholic is forbidden to marry outside the faith. This is known as "disparity of cult" and requires an express dispensation. You would need to speak with your pastor and discuss your reasons for doing this. If you have good enough reasons - which should be very good, then the non-Catholic can apply for the permission you need if the two of you go through pre-Cana classes, and are showing good faith. You need to be sure that you can live your faith and raise the children in the faith. As one man I used to work with used to say, "you're going to be dead for a long time." Although I wouldn't use his phrasing, the point is that you are only on earth for a short period of time. The reason God put you on earth is to serve Him and to prepare yourself to enter heaven. In other words, the reason you would marry a non-Catholic is that you somehow discern that it is God's Will for you do so, and that in doing so, you will be furthering the chances of your eternal salvation AND his or hers. Remember, marriage means that you are responsible for helping your spouse attain heaven, as well as working out your own salvation. My personal advice is to take this very slowly. Take a year or more to make sure that your faith is firmly established, and to get to know this person better so that you are absolutely positive that you are not endangering your soul, or your childrens' souls. Any person that is worthwhile and really loves a Catholic person should be more than willing to genuinely convert and then the two of you would be working together towards the same end.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church, second edition, English translation 1994
1635 . . . This . . . dispensation presupposes that both parties know and do not exclude the essential ends and properties of marriage; and furthermore that the Cahtolic party confirms the obligations, which have been made known to the non-Catholic party, of preserving his or her own faith and ensuring the baptism and education of the children in the Catholic Church. (Cf. Code of Canon Law, canon 1125.
1637 In marriages with disparity of cult the Catholic spouse has a particular task: "For the unbelieving husband is consecrated through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is consecrated through her husband." (1 Cor 7:14) It is a great joy for the Christian spouse and for the church if this "consecration" should lead to the free conversion of the other spouse to the Christian faith. (Cf. 1 Cor 7:16) Sincere married love, the humble and patient practice of the family virtues, and perseverance in prayer can prepare the non-believing spouse to accept the grace of conversion.

What are the similarities and differences of the Catholic and Church of Christ churches?
How is Calvinism different from Roman Catholic?
The tenants of Calvinism fall into the Five Points of Calivinism. They are:
Total Depravity: This is the idea that after the first sin (in the Garden of Eden), mankind has been born inherently evil and self serving, and that it is not in our nature to want to serve God's will. Because of this, people are unable to CHOOSE to follow God because their very nature prevents it. Catholics believe that all men are born inherently good, but with the taint of Original Sin (which is cleansed at Baptism). The church teaches that it is in our nature to want to follow God and that Sin is a temptation that must be averted, not an absolute.
Unconditional Election: This is the idea that from time immemorial, God himself has predetermined who will be saved and who will not, regardless of faith, morals or any personal merit or value in the individual. This is the one that got Calvin excommunicated. Christ himself made it clear that Gods accepts all of us if only we seek him out.
Limited Atonement: Connected to the idea of unconditional election, limited atonement says that Christ's death and atonement for Original Sin was limited only to those people whom God selected, and not for all mankind. This also contradicts the Gospel, in which Christ says that he will be the sacrifice for all men and their salvation.
Irresistible Grace: Also connected to the above, this doctrine states that God's call cannot be ignored by those he's chosen, regardless of their will or intent. Even wicked and deplorable people will work God's will in the end, if they are chosen by him to do so. The Catholic church teaches that mankind is made in God's image in the concept of Free Will, which was sealed by the eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. While God knows the path, he doesn't select it for us, we choose ourselves.
Perseverance of the Saints: This is the idea that God's will cannot be upset by the will of men, and that people who are chosen will do the work of God, and if they fall away from the faith, they were either not truly chosen, or will return in time. This is the genesis of the idea of "once saved, always saved". The Catholic church believes that our works and deeds define our faith, not our words. So if a person falls from the faith, then they have lost faith. If they come back, then it is reclaimed. Nothing more, nothing less.
Calvinism is the basis of the Baptist Church, particularly the Southern Baptists. John Calvin himself was excommunicated from the Catholic Church as a heretic.
shia accept and pray tarawih. but it is a Mustahab prayer and is not obligatory. so all do not perform it. also in Islam performing Mustahab prayers in Jamaat form is Haram and this is a Bidat made by Umar and himself said: what a good Bidat is this!
later Imam Ali S.A. in his government banned performing it in Jamaat (by group) and said this is Haram.
today still some sunni Muslims who are follower of Umar perform is in Jammat.
what shia reject is performing it in Jammat and not itself.
you can find more debated about this in peshaver nights book.
How is a Gurdwara different to a church?
Not only Hindu temple and a Sikh gurdwara are rather all the religious places where people gather to remember the supreme power or discuss issues regarding welfare of mankind or spread knowledge for the welfare of others with a selfless spirit are similar as they all are the sources of welfare and selfless services.
A temple or gurdwara is basically a name given to the place where people get together and have their peace of mind. So all the places meeting these conditions are religious places and are thus similar.
Taoism and Islam are vastly different. Taoism worships a pantheon of gods, while Islam worships only one God. Taoism teaches reincarnation, with hope of becoming an immortal after a number of lifetimes. Islam teaches that when each person dies, his or her soul goes to heaven or hell.
What both religions share is that they teach high moral values.
The Bible is to Christians as what is to Jews?
The Bible is the holy book of Christianity
The Quran is the holy book of Islam
The Talmud is record of rabbinic teachings on Jewish law and customs; the holy book of Judaism is the Torah.
What is the difference between a Pentecostal church and Apostolic churches?
Pentecostals (everyone needs to) repent, be baptized in Jesus Name, and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost and the speaking of other tongues... you need to do this to get to Heaven...
There are also Apostolic Pentecostals they believe in repent, be baptized in Jesus Name, and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost and the speaking of other tongues... you need to do this to get to Heaven. (same as above except) we wear skirts and DONT CUT HAIR. We obey everything the bible tells us to do, weather god demands it or just asks. .... (I am Apostolic Pentecostal so I know)~
Apostolic churches don't believe in the Trinity, (Father Son, Holy Ghost) Pentecostal churches do. The difference is the belief in the Trinity. Also Apostolic baptized in Jesus name only. Pentecostals baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost............
not all pentecostals teach you have to have the holy ghost with evidence of speaking in tongues to go to heaven, some teach its good to have that but not necessary for heaven...but all apostolic pentecostals do teach this. there are manhy differences even amongst the individual denominations whether apostolic or just pentecostals.....also FYI---there are apostolic denominations which are not pentecostal at all.
What is a major difference between Buddhism and Hinduism?
The Buddha taught a few basic concepts that contradict most of the current schools of Hinduism (note that within Hinduism there is a huge range in beliefs). The Buddha taught that a permanent self, soul or 'atman' does not exist. These teachings are known as teachings on selflessness or emptiness.
The Buddha opposed the caste-system, where people are categorized by their birth in a certain family.
The Buddha opposed the view that people will become 'enlightened' after a certain number of lives. Instead, our actions (karma) determines our future.
The Buddha did not support the idea of a creator-God who created the universe.

What is the difference between God in Judaism and Islam?
Judaism is the religion according to God revelation to Prophet Moses. Christianity is the religion according to God revelation to Prophet Jesus. The very name Islam is the religion according to God revelation to Prophet Mohamed.
Some Christians believe that Jesus is God or son of God. This is not the case in Islam religion.
Jesus was born as miracle by the word and command of God. This command is, as said in Quran, the same command that had brought Adam into being with neither a father nor a mother. The God command was to Adam as well as to Jesus is "Be!" and he came into being.
During the prophetic mission of Jesus (peace be upon him), Jesus performed many miracles by God's will. God tells us that Jesus said:
"I have come to you with a sign from your Lord. I make for you the shape of a bird out of clay, I breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by God's permission. I heal the blind from birth and the leper. And I bring the dead to life by God's permission. And I tell you what you eat and what you store in your houses...."(Quran, 3/49)
In ,Quran there is a complete chapter titled 'Maryam' (Mary) that confirms Maryam virgin birth. The Quran states the following on the birth of Jesus (peace be upon him):
(Remember) when the angels said, "O Mary, God gives you good news of a word from Him (God), whose name is the Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, revered in this world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought near (to God). He will speak to the people from his cradle and as a man, and he is of the righteous." She said, "My Lord, how can I have a child when no mortal has touched me?" He said, "So (it will be). God creates what He wills. If He decrees a thing, He says to it only, 'Be!' and it is." (Quran, 3:45-47)
In Islam religion, Jesus (peace be upon him) is believed as one of the greatest prophets and one of the greatest messengers of God to mankind. So, Jesus (peace upon him) as messenger of God, believes, for sure, in God and the only one God. He never claimed that he is son of God or God and never called his followers to worship him. Surah 112 - Al Ikhlas THE PURITY OF FAITH
Say: He is God, the One and Only;
God, the Eternal, Absolute;
He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;
And there is none like unto Him.
Answer B ( The Christian view)Jesus is ALL human and ALL God, in the Christian New Testament. Mary was conceived BY God, not Joseph, hence the term 'virgin birth'. Jesus is not a 'prophet of God' as described in the Muslim view above, but ONE WITH God, implying a shared personality, as well as with the 'Holy Spirit'- which is what distinguishes the Christian God: The three Persons ( or 'personalities' of God ) Jews and Muslims do not accept Jesus Christ as other than a prophet, and Christians do not accept Muhammed as a prophet- defined as 100% proven and infallible. Jesus performed miracles, including bringing Lazuras back to life. Only God can create life, so this miracle witnessed by 50 persons shows Jesus Godhood. If this question seeks to learn the difference- this is the correct Christian view.Allaah has only recently been equivocated as the same God after the events of Sept. 11,2001 in the U.S. in an effort to prevent clashes between Muslims,
Christians and Jews in response to Muslim demands that equality be inferred.
The first commandment in Dueteronomy ,of the Old Testament revered as the inspired word of God in the Judeo Christian Bible is in Deuteronomy:
~Deut 5:6" I am the Lord thy God who brought you out of Egypt. 5:7You shall have no other gods before Me...
5:9 for I, the Lord your God am a jelous God..5:11 " You shall not misuse the name of the Lord, your God,for the lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name."

What is the difference between Disciples of Christ and Baptists?
A Christian is a person who believes in Jesus and is a philosophy, but not a religion. A Baptist is a part of the Christian belief and is a particular religion in Christianity.
Christianity IS a religion. Christianity has many different Christians though. There are Baptists, Anglicans (high and low), Presbyterians etc. And though they all believe the basics and agree on them, they have many different beliefs as well, which arent as important to agree on.
What is the difference between Church of Christ and Church of the Brethren?
I grew up Church of Christ (CofC) and am considering converting to the Disciples of Christ. Both churches originated from the 18th century Restoration movement so their general beliefs are the same but how they put them in practice is very different. First the defining practice of the CofC is their rejection of instrumental music during worship. Disciples use instruments, many having full bands. Another difference is the role of women in the church. The CofC believes that women should remain silent during services and should not be allowed to teach classes with male members. The disciples ordain women ministers. The biggest difference is that most CofC's believe that the Chuch of Christ is the one true church, the only church that is going to heaven so they do not fellowship with any other denomination. The disciples openly associate with many other denominations and encourage diversity. Those are the very basic differences. I hope that helps.
