Can you add memory to a laptop?
Yes you can easily increase RAM of your laptop. First you need to find compatible memory type for your laptop. It will depend on the laptop configuration (like chipset). Most laptops made in last 3-4 years have DDR2 SODIMM memory type. You can also use some of the free utilities like cpuz from cpuid.com to find exact chipset, type of memory installed including size, speed etc. installed in your computer currently in each slot. Before you buy the memory you can once open the memory area cover from base side of the laptop to have a look at the memory slots. This will give you confidence that once you have new modules with you will be able to open up the unit and install the modules.
Depending on the specifications of the computer, you are likely to get an HP Pavilion for approximately $600 up to $1300. This is assuming that you are interested in a desktop computer as laptop prices may vary.
There are many variables that make it impossible to give just one answer to this question. How many movies 160GB can hold depends on the movie format, length, resolution, and the type of compression used to store them. A good rule of thumb is that one GB can hold one hour of a movie.

Why do you need with a new laptop when you already have a working computer? It seems you are in that certain phase in life where you want everything and don't care how much they cost. I mean, what do you do on a computer at 9 years old other than play small games that don't take up much time? Of course, I have no idea what you do on the computer and if you have any good reasons for wanting a laptop, so I am offering you a few simple solutions.
1. You can tell them about the EEE PC. The computers are fairly (really) cheep, and come in extremely portable and small 7 in models. Plus they're not made by Dell.
2. If your parents bring up the argument of already having a computer, tell them that Dell makes bad computers and it will break in about a month and when you call customer support, your call is forwarded to cheap labor in India where you will have to wait 2 hours to get no help at all.
3. Install Linux on the desktop and you have a brand new and much better computer.
4. Save up your own money and buy your own computer instead of leeching precious money off your parents in the current state of the economy. You need to learn to work hard to get what you want. You can't live off your parents forever.
5. Live with what you have.
6. Create your own computer like Steve Wozniak.
The 6 examples above are hard. ;) This ONE and only worked for me! :D
1. BEG YOUR PARENTS UNTIL THEY GIVE IN! Ha, ha, worked for me. ;)

Which laptop is best for an incoming high school freshman MacBook Air or MacBook Pro?
It all depends on what you need it for.
If most of what your doing is taking notes, web browsing, word proccessing, etc, then the MacBook Air should be fine.
If your an enginering student, doing HD video editing or other heavy processer work then the MacBook Pro would be better for the long run.
With the newer Apple laptops you will need to max out the ram as you won't be able to upgrade later as the ram is permanently install.
Can you find a laptop at Walmart for under 200?
If you find a laptop at Walmart for under $200, its not going to be too good, my advice, if you're on a budget, try shopping online, whether on computer manufacturer's websites (they often offer special discounts for online purchases) or on used product websites like eBay or amazon.
But you need to have done your "homework" about what you need in the way of a computer.
Also with shopping online comes the added cost of shipping, so unless there is free shipping you could find a better deal at your local computer store. Plus you have the added feature of having your questions about the computer answered in "real time".
Buying locally puts your dollars into the local economy and not into some out of state computer giant.

What is the most expensive type of memory per MB you can find?
Due to the recent floods in Taiwan, home to many of the world's largest Hard drive manufacturers. The simple HD is now becoming increasingly rare and expensive. A 1TB ( terrabyte = 1,000GB ) Western Caviar 7,200 RPM 6Gb/s HD costed about $99 less than a year ago. The current price? $249.99
Another expensive form of storage would be an SSD ( solid state drives ). They function the same as a mcechanical HD, except they have no moving parts and their acess times are approx 20 times faster than that of a mechanical HD. That being said they are also quite expensive, ( these drives were not effected by the flood ) with prices currently arround $2/GB.
Which is the best company of PC?
HP makes the best desktop computers.
AnswerI say Alienware, CyberPower, Xi Computers, SonyStyle and ASUSTek make the best computers ever! They have extreme high performance and extremely ultimately powerful computers! Like the one I have with 32GB RAM! Remember... always have a computer with everything you expect or you may not enjoy it! AnswerI believe Alienware Area-51 7500 is great since I have it and I love it.Another Opinion:
IMHO the very best computer you can buy is from Apple. I switched from Windows to Apple 5 years ago and have not had one problem with my iMac. Apple provides superior products and their support is rated the best in the business. You will never regret buying an Apple computer.
What is the difference between HP Pavilion and HP Compaq desk top computers?
HP and Compaq were both independent computer sellers until 2001 when they merged. Computers are still made under both names, the leading lines being HP's Pavilion and Compaq's Presario. The differences between the different lines tend to be mostly cosmetic, although the difference between individual models can be substantial.
It is also noted that Compaq computers tend to be made with lesser-quality parts, making the costs more inexpensive, affordable and economic than the HP computers.

If you ever want to upgrade you computer, do NOT get anything from Apple. PC's = open architecture meaning they're built on the best parts from different companies for the lowest price. Apple consists of... Apple. Not compatible for upgrades unless the upgrade is... Apple.
With that said... When you boot up your computer, the screen goes blank and text runs by... depending on your computer, either F8 or F10 will bring you to the screen that gives you the 'boot under safe mode" option.
How can you get a pear laptop?
You cannot get a pear laptop. Though the pear laptop has been seen on popular TV programs, it is imitating Apple, but the program would get sued for using Apple on the program, so they slappped a pear skin on apple products so Apple couldn't sue the program. They are not available anywhere. Even if you could get a pear laptop, it is just a stage prop; it will not do anything.

Is it better to buy a new computer or a used computer?
it depends on your budget,
if your looking for a high speed and powerful performance PC then you should buy a new one just after Christmas when the sales are on.
if you are just looking for a normal PC that can handle basic computer jobs and usage then best to buy a used buy almost brand new, therefore it wont be too old to handle your general needs
=D
so i suppose the best value for money would be to just buy an old one that is said "as good as new" or "mint condition"
hope this helps you decide
=D
