it depends on which programming language you are using.

the basic idea is to check when a key is hit on the keyboard for eg in C u can use kbhit() function. It returns a non-zero integer if a key is in the keyboard buffer. It will not wait for a key to be pressed.

however in VB, C# you can use keypressdown event to check which key is pressed.

Once you know which key is pressed you need to record the finding some where for eg in a file.

Also you need to do is to run your program as startup so that it is started as soon as the system boots up.

One method that works in a lot of text processing applications is to hold down the Shift key and then press Tab

If it is like the keys on one of my old PowerBooks, when you took the key off you may have broken one or more of the small plastic clips on the bottom side. If this is the case, you will never be able to get the key back on.

Ultimately I was forced to switch to using an external USB keyboard on that PowerBook.

There are considerable amounts of ergonomic keyboards on the market, which are designed so that your hands can be as comfortable as possible. Consider the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000, the Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro Wireless Keyboard and the Goldtouch Adjustable Ergonomic Keyboard.

This depends, of course, on exactly what your needs are, but personally, these are the features that I would look for in a MIDI controller (My controller choice is at the end of the post if you want to skip right to it): 1. Most importantly, full-size keys with a natural weighting and sensitivity, and at least 61 keys. A full 88 keys may pose a size problem for those with limited room or desk space. 2. Not absolutely necessary, basic note-editing controls such as pitch bending are a plus. 3. Jacks for sustain and/or damper pedals. 4. No sound-generation functionality. A MIDI setup will include synthesizers and/or samplers in either hardware or software, making any such capabilities on a MIDI controller redundant and a waste of money. All things considered, I believe the Fatar controllers are ideal, although I believe that their MIDI controllers are now branded under the StudioLogic name.

The symbol '#' goes by various names. In Unicode tables, it is officially known as the "number sign", which follows popular usage in the US and Canada. In many other English-speaking countries, it is called the "hash". In the US also, it is sometimes called a "pound sign" as it was historically used as a unit symbol for weight in pounds. That sometimes causes confusion with the currency symbol, £, which is used for pound sterling in the rest of the world. Because of all that confusion, engineers tried to coin the name "octothorpe" for this symbol, but that never caught on, for obvious reasons.

Each language keyboard layout is different for many of the *extra* characters. On my Swedish language keyboard, backslash \ is with Alt Gr and the + key which is next to the rightmost key on the top row (next to 0). I know this is not the placement on American English keyboards were it is the key just to the left of the bottom of the Enter key.

The hard way: you need to go to the control panel and add an alternate keyboard that you can switch back and forth from.

The easy way: open your character map and click on the symbol you want. Go to the start menu and in the "run" box, type "character map".

The dot in the middle is like a mini touch pad which you can use to control the cursor. On some models you can use it to click on things but this is not very common.
