I do not think that different brands can be used on different printers. You must have the correct brand and the correct cartridge for you printer that you are wanting to put new cartridges in.

It could be a lack of regular defragmentations, spy-ware and virus checks. If you have not done this on your computer on a couple of months this could be the problem.

It could also be virus related as in something new. Post on my board for more info. If you have an old operating system older than Windows 2000, that is another cause.

The only effect that free capacity has on performance is with regards to your paging, or "swap", file. Ideally, it should be between the same and ouble the amount of RAM you have installed on your computer. So if you have 2 GB of RAM, you'll want at least 2 GB free, although Windows may not need that much if you do nothing memory-intensive.

if you receive a virus or any malware that disrupts your computers functions or stops you from accessing your files, or if the virus is made to delete your files it can disable you access to the info and you might need to reinstall your operating system in this case you would not be able to access your information unless it was backed up. you could also cause physical damage to your laptop or its stolen and unless its backed up you wont be able to access any of your files. Also you should do it time to time so that you are updateing you backed up files with any current files that you recently created

Backing up files means making copies of important files so you don't lose all of your work when something goes wrong (power outage, hard drive failure, stolen computer, etc.)

If you have never lost any important information and feel like you don't need to backup your files, you are in for a rude awakening when it eventually happens.

I would have to say their both about equal but it really matters to certain people. Software is mostly installing/uninstalling certain programs, drivers, etc while hardware might consist of re-soldering a new part on your motherboard.

Hardware is definitely the most costly though, make sure you get a lot of people's opinions about a computer malfunction before you go out and buy a new hard drive or ram sticks.

The CD ROM does not have any affect on the speed of the CPU or the speed of the Frontside Bus. The CPU and Frontside Bus is what carries data and the CD ROM is not connected nor involved with the speed of the computer.

Most computers have a keystroke (usually esc, del, or F12) that will interrupt the boot sequence when you start your computer. In the past, this would be when the white text flies across the screen displaying memory available, hard disk sizes, etc. This will get you into the BIOS for "cmos setup".

They will work fine. These statements "they are not designed to do this and would not do it well" WRONG and "Performance would be terrible and the drives would fail much sooner" also WRONG. U320 drives are backwards compatible and should work without issue on a U160 controller, the performance will be the same as a U160 drive and will not affect the drive's MTBF.

The drives will work fine !! The performance of the drives is NOT impacted at all --> they still rotate at the same speed; the seek times aren't any different; etc. The ONLY difference is that the interface speed is different (Ultra 160 vs Ultra 320). ... and it certainly has NO impact on the reliability of the drives !! [r.e. "... the drives would fail much sooner ..."].

... in fact, unless you're using an array which could support a sustained transfer rate higher than Ultra 160 speeds, the ONLY time there would be any difference in performance (compared to an Ultra 320 controller) will be in transfers to/from the drive's buffers => a very low % of disk operations.

Bottom line: Buy the disks you listed. They'll work just fine :-)
