On a 3 year sentence in Alabama how much time will you do Do you get good time And does any of the time you have already done count towards this sentence?

All states have some kind of method by which prisoners earn "good' tiime. How much "good" time whe earns will depend on what the ratio of earned good time is and, most importantly, her conduct while in prison. Perhaps you could contact the listed number for the state prison system and ask what the possible sentence may be.

Does Metro-North go to Clinton Correctional Facility?

No, it doesn't go anywhere near there. Clinton Correctional Facility is in Dannemora, New York, up near the Canadian border. Metro-North only goes as far north as Poughkeepsie and Wassaic, which are 200 miles south of Dannemora.

Neither Amtrak nor Greyhound buses stop in Dannemora, either. I think the best way to get there is to take Amtrak to Plattsburgh, NY (about 15 miles east of Dannemora) and hire a taxi to take you the rest of the way.

See the first Related Link below for the Amtrak homepage. In the "From" field, enter NYP for New York Penn Station (or, if you're not coming from New York City, use the Station Locator to find the station closest to you), and in the "To" field, enter PLB for Plattsburgh, NY.

See the second Related Link for taxi services in Plattsburgh. I called the first number on the list (City Taxi at 518-561-7777) and they said they would charge $26 each way ($52 round-trip) to take you to the prison.

To what types of offenders might punishment be the most effective in reducing recidivism?

Punishment does not affect recidivism, except perhaps to ensure that it remains high. "If we treat people like animals when they are in prison, they are likely to behave like animals," says Arne Kvernvik-Nilsen, clinical psychologist and Governor of Bastøy Prison in Norway.

Recidivism rates are a strange thing. In the US, no matter how much is done, no matter what types of rehabilitation programs are used, no matter the lengths of sentences, the rates generally remain the same, and have for the past twenty years according to the US Department of Justice Bureau of Statistics.

Those convicted of murder demonstrate the lowest recidivism rate at around 2.5% nationally (US statistic Below them at 5.67% are sex offenders (87% of those are the most violent offenders and expositionists--flashers. The largest group of convicted SO's are those who offended against a family member, making up 80% and representing only about 2% of all repeat offenders in this group. The remaining 11% are acquaintance offenders and boyfriend/girlfriend type situations). The next lowest rate of recidivism falls to those convicted of property crimes at around 22%. The different categories climb dramatically after that to drug-related offenses at around 88.9%, and home invasions at nearly 100%.

Incidentally, capital punishment has been proven to be nodeterrent to crime at all. Strangely enough, the states that are toughest on crimes, those where the death penalty is practiced and carried out on a regular basis have the highest capital crime rates in the nation. While execution might deter the executed from ever committing another crime, the potential of it did nothing to deter the crime for which he was executed.

The national average of recidivism rates combined in the US is about 75%. Interestingly, by comparison those of inmates who have completed the program at Bastøy Prison, in Norway is about 10%, and has remained the same for the thirty or so years it has operated as a men's prison. Since the closing of the boy's detention center there in the 1950's, there has not been a single riot or an escape or escape attempt. Someone is doing something right.

What study found that vigorous enforcement of gun laws would reduce crime?

A:The way to conduct such a study is to enact and enforce stricter laws then wait and see what happens. With the current focus on gun massacres such as in the Newtown school, it is instructive to see just what happened when Australia enacted and enforced stricter laws. Australia had a few massacres up to and including the 1997 Port Arthur massacre, but then did two things: i) tightened the laws; and ii) instituted a buyback that took a large percentage of guns off the streets. As of December 2012, Australia has not had a gun massacre in the years since. Of course not all crimes involve use of guns, but this is evidence of success n terms of reducing mass shootings.

I also saw a graph of gun-related deaths per capita vs. gun ownership per capita in OECD countries. Only one nation exceeded the USA in terms of gun deaths to population. The USA was well clear of the others, both in number of guns and gun deaths, and there was a general correlation of deaths with gun ownership (Mexico excluded). This correlation is strong enough to demonstrate that guns mean gun deaths.

Possibly, if you have been in custody for three years, then you are sentenced to ten years, you may only need to serve only years. However, as with most things related to sentencing, the decision ultimately belongs to the judge.

Where is Carlos Lehder?

Carlos Lehder's ongoing legal battles confirm Lehder remains imprisoned in the US, and that he is not likely to be released anytime soon. On July 22, 2005 he appeared in the US Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit to contest his sentence. Lehder appeared pro se, arguing that the United States failed to perform its obligations under a cooperation agreement he had entered into with the United States Attorney's Office, after he held up his end of the deal. (United States v. Lehder-Rivas, 136 Fed. Appx. 324; 2005). In May 2007, he requested the Colombian Supreme Court to order the Colombian government to request from the United States his release because of the violations of his cooperation agreement.

Who is the most dangerous man in Arizona State Prison Complex - Florence?

Robert Charles Comer (50 years old) has been fighting to die. The court system finally granted his right for execution in March. CRIMES: Comer went on a killing spree during 1989 * Comer and his ex girlfriend Juneva Willis invited a young camper for dinner, ate and Comer shot the young man with a .38 caliber revolver. He terrified his girlfriend by saying "See what I've done. I'm a cold and callous killer. * At another campsite Comer used wire/duct tape a bound a Chicago couple raping the woman repeatedly. Psychiatrists, lawyers and Comer himself say he has been transformed from once being known to Arizona prison guards as the most dangerous inmate in the state to a more mellow, mature and thoughtful man. Comer spent much of his lengthy court battle just proving he was competent to choose execution. That's because he made the choice to die in 2000, shortly after he appealed his death sentence to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. Arizona has executed 86 people, 22 of them since resuming the death penalty in 1992 after a 29-year hiatus

Will i go to jail if someone tells me to kill them and i do it?

Yes, you will go to jail. And you could face as much time as someone who voluntarily killed another. If you were under duress, you could point that out to your defense attorney (never talk to the police!!) for a possible lenient sentence.
