Daewoo Matiz

This is a common fault with the Daewoo Matiz, after fitting my third motor in five years i researched this problem and on a Daewoo website forum a mechanic advised me my mistake was i should not be using screenwash believe it or not as it clogs up the jets and eventually burns out the motors, so now i use a little washing up liquid seems to be fine

I get very high milage out my little machine, easy to do... just remember its not a racing car or a small truck... so donut race it and keep the weight down, also higher octane fuel will help... keep it well tuned and serviced...

Can I answer my own question? - it was the distributer - probably the cam sensor but a scrapyard replacement cured the fault

Probably just damp. Try ventilating under bonnet by leaving open for a few hours in dry weather or drying off mainly around spark plugs by using hairdryer.

May also need new spark plugs and or HT leads. Could also be damp in distributor.

there is suppose to be a small reservoir next to the coolant cap. this is the cap of pottle where you add steering oil.

if you do not have such a cap, you do not need to add steering oil, because you do not have ABS.

After the distributor was fitted the engineer took the car round the block and it ws OK. My daughter then drove to the local supermarket and filled up with petrol. The car then started up but wouldn't fire. We had to leave it at the petrol pump and then push it into the car park. It is a 2000 Daewoo Matiz SE. The engineer now thinks it could be the key, we have tried both keys without any luck. Am no wondering how much it will cost to get the keys re-programmed.

Go to someone who has a diagnostic meter , they will be able to tell you what is causing the problem, it is usually a sensor.

It meant that the Germans were eating choclate covered strawberries in their trenches.

There is a white plastic box located under the passenger side headlamp (useful !!). The fuse can be found there.

You will need to remove the front grill and the headlamp has three bolts securing it and not 2 as I found out the hard way. The first 2 are located in clear view on top of the headlamp. The third is hidden underneath. I did not work out how to get to it as I didn't know it was there and broke the bracket wiggling the headlamp.

Yep, had the ball joint go on the wiper linkage closest to the motor, only way to fix it seemed to be replacing the linkage but they are pretty hard to find in breakers yards. Ebay had them though.

I'v had the same problem. Its most likely to be the auxiliary belt. Get it changed at your local garage. If it was the cam belt then the car wouldn't drive properly.

Jack up the offside of the car, the fuel filter is located in the fuel line, and just in line with the rear door. Cut the retaining clips, but remenber to protect your eyes, remove the old filter and replace it with the new filter. It should take no more than 15 minutes

aslong as you hav not tried to start it with it snapped then there will be no damage just a new belt needed

There are two ways

1). Bypass the heater in the engine room (unless of cause you life in a colder climate) This will require very long arms and very small hands, and not to forget: a lot of cursing!!

2). You have to remove the entire dashboard, including steering weel, centre console, airbacks, instruments, aircon and vann assembly - a real pain!!
