Is Yahoo mail actually unlimited?

Yes, it does. Yahoo mail is the only web browser that advertises unlimited storage. Others, such as Hotmail and Gmail have an idea of unlimited but clarify the limits. Gmail storage grows a little bigger every second, Hotmail says it grows with you.

But, don't go crazy with it and try to use it as a Storage Warehouse. Yahoo has an Abuse system that lets them know if something along those lines were detected.

I have a 40 gig hard drive with operating systems and some storage. I also have a second hard drive just for storage. Can I add a third hard drive to increase storage?

Probably, but it would have to be an external hard drive.

The above is incorrect. some modem motherboards have provisions for 4 ide drives, and 4 sata, with add on cards you can add even more, as long as your PSU is big enough, I have one computer here that is successfully running 16 drives in it. most of my computers run around 4, so yes you are fine to run 3

Would it be preferable to have a network storage device or individuals systems using their own storage?

Though not definitive, the answer is "it depends".

There are a number of variables that would go in to arriving at an answer, such as:

What kind of network, how reliable, how extensive, complicated? What kind of data, and the potential impact of loss from 1 computer? What if there was a fire and all computers were destroyed?. Do you bet your business on the data in those individual computers?

My take, at a minimum, is no matter what, if your business can't stay down while data is reentered and recovered from paper and human memory, it makes sense to backup somewhere.

If your network can stand the traffic, then a NAS or server storage is logical. This also includes a backup of the data to be taken off-site daily at business close, even if on a usb attached drive and brought back each morning.

I have successfully used a combination of the local/NAS environment. Let each PC user use data on their machine, add, delete, edit, etc - then they run a batch job using XCOPY the last thing each day to write their incremental changes to the data on the NAS - then someone responsible copies the NAS data to a portable drive, again a batch job would work fine. (of course this is assuming wintel, but something similar for Linux/unix would be apropos)

Why in your card reader cant read your memory card?

There are so many reasons why it occurs. Maybe your memory card is not functioning or your card reader itself. There's also a posibility that you card reader is not compatible with your memory card, make sure you have the manual for your card reader for it's specification and compatibilities. Many card readers today uses memory card adapter aside from the memory card alone. It function as a protective material for your memory card. Maybe your card reader needs an adapter not only the memory card. I hope this one helps.

Why you can not connect peripherals directly to the system bus?

We can not connect peripherals directly to the system bus for the following reasons:

- To maintain the cleanest conditions possible inside the box

- You would need to snake the connectors/cables all over the inside of the case and possibly block the motion of the cooling fan(s)

- Protect the mother board from being damaged by too much pressure being applied

Why does your computer restart when you insert a CD in the CD-ROM drive?

Your CD that you're using isn't supporting your operating system most likely. If your PC restarts every time you put a CD in cd-rom then its the problem of your power supply. I had it too. What I did was I removed the connection of the cooling fan (remember not the power supply fan, what the heck -- you can't do it anyways). Then try putting a CD in it. This is because your power supply is of less voltage. Whenever your CD-Rom tries to read a CD it overloads or in short cuts off the power supply. Try doing it or else buy a better power supply. It would definitely solve your problem.

How to take apart a DVD drive?

Remove the screws from the back and take off your sides. This will allow you to remove the top if need be. You will then see sets of wire harnesses running into your DVD drive (if you need mark the wires that go to your drives), Their will be a clip lock on the back, do not force anything, play around and study it you'll figure it out. You'll be able to remove it once this clip or lock is moved(usely marked with lock, unlock)Good luck!

What is enough space on a laptop?

Honestly, that all depends on what you need. Everyone is different. It is all relative.

You have probably noticed that computers (laptops especially) are having more and more space as newer versions come out.

You can find a decently affordable laptop now days with something like 250GB hard drive(a very nice portion of space ) and 2GB (or more) or RAM. (should be plenty, usually).

The specifications above are usually somewhat standard now days. Unless you are a user who needs alot more space than the average person, I think that is your best bet.

Look below for some helpful questions to ask yourselve when considering space:

You might want to consider a few questions when you are thinking about how much space you need:

- What will you use it for?

Will you put a lot of programs and pictures on it, or do you just want a basic computer to do pretty basic things on, like surfing the web.

- If you had a computer previously, were you satisfied with the amount of space on it, or would you like to have more?

- Again, related to the first question: Do you find yourself having a lot of music or pictures on a computer?

This will mean that you probably will have a lot of files and will thus want more disk space.

- Also, how important is cost versus space for you?

- You will also want to consider other features that you are looking for besides space.

It really all depends on you.

Hope that helps
