This category deals with the causes and effects of changes in natural habitat. Examples would include questions about cutting down forests, plowing grasslands for agriculture, coral reef die-offs, and the natural process of succession.

Why did the crumble piece of paper fall faster then the flat piece of paper?

Because the crumbled up bit will have less surface area, and with that less air drag. Less drag allows it to reach a higher speed.

Why should you not cut down tree?

Trees are valuable because they gives us oxygen and we need oxygen to live. They are also homes for animals. They hold water underground to prevent flash floods and support the land to prevent land slides. They also lessen carbon dioxide and produce oxygen.

What reason does Africa cut down trees?

Trees are cut down in Africa for the same reasons that they are cut down in any other continent. Cutting down trees makes land available for purposes such as farming, or building houses, factories, parking lots, etc. In addition, the trees that you cut down can then be turned into valuable lumber.

How do trees provide homes for animals?

trees provide home for animals as on them many birds make nest and animals like monkeys live there so this is how trees provide shelter for animals.

What forests are deforestated for housing?

Generally, forests are not deforested for housing, although in some countries (primarily in Europe, the USA, and Canada) there may occasionally be a developer who will buy and then cut down an area of forest.

However, because tropical rainforests are not usually in developed countries, housing isn't the reason that they are cut down. Instead, they are usually logged for timber or to make room for farmland.

Why does McDonalds cut down trees in the Amazon?

Because there planning to take over the world so they are starting by making a special bace in the amazon.

Does recycling cause pollution?

There is an energy cost for recycling many materials, and some pollution is created by creating the heat generated to melt glass or metal. However the air pollution from recycling is minor compared to the pollution caused by mining new materials.

There is a need to design recycling collection depots properly. Blowing trash must be minimized, oils and fluids must be contained, fire controls must be in place, toxic ,aterials must be segregated, scavenging must be minimized. All these activites can lead to local contamination and pollution problems

Whch of these is an example of instinctive behavior?

An example of instinctive behavior is a bird building a nest. This behavior is innate and does not require prior learning; the bird instinctively knows how to gather materials and construct a nest for laying eggs and raising its young. Other examples include sea turtles hatching and instinctively moving towards the ocean or a spider spinning a web.

What is controlled logging?

Controlled logging is a forest management practice that involves the selective removal of trees to achieve specific ecological, economic, and social objectives while minimizing environmental impact. This method aims to maintain forest health and biodiversity by carefully planning which trees to harvest, ensuring that the ecosystem remains balanced and resilient. It often includes measures to protect soil, water quality, and wildlife habitats, making it a sustainable approach to timber production.

What is the effects of destroying the rain forest?

Native People

When the trees are cut down it takes away the habitat of the plants and animals. It also reduces the space for the indigenous people who have lived there for thousands of years. These people used the available resources by hunting, fishing, gathering and farming. This way of life has died out with contact from incomers. Some native groups suffered greatly from diseases which they had no resistance to. People are also tempted into the modern lifestyles in the larger settlements, which can have social problems.

Fauna and Flora

Deforestation has led to the loss of thousands of species of insects, animals and plants. It means that important chemicals that could be used for medical purposes have not been found and will be lost.

The Soil

Removing the vegetation cover exposes the soil to erosion and leaching. Without the branches and leaves to break its fall, heavy tropical storms can quickly wash the soil from even an gentle slope. Cutting down the trees also takes away the roots which helps bind the soils together. The soil can quickly silt up rivers and lakes.

Even if the soil is not completely removed the nutrients may be leached out as the rainfall seeps down through the soil. Soils lose their fertility after only a few years, and this causes problems for commercial arable farmers.

What are the causes of wildlife extinction?

Well presently it's people! The actual physical cause is that their habitat is no longer suitable. They can no longer find food, a safe place to breed or rest, they become polluted and diseased, the place becomes too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry. In the past this was purely down to natural causes such as a comet hitting the Earth, kicking up dust which reduced the sunlight reaching Earth and caused global temperatures to drop (one theory for the mass extinction of dinosaurs). But now it is humans who are destroying animal's environments. Rainforests are one of the most diverse places on Earth with millions of species of plants and animals. We are chopping them down for cheap wood, to graze cattle for cheap meat for fast food chains and to grow palm oil which is used in masses of food and other products. So the orangutans are suspected to only have 5 years left! We pollute the seas, we cause global warming... the list goes on. And there are things we can all do. Check whether the products you buy contain palm oil. Help to reduce global warming. Use linen or hemp bags (many turtles, most of which are endangered, are killed when they swallow plastic bags that they mistake for jelly fish). You don't have to be a saint but there are little compromises you make that taken as a whole will make a difference. Most people are starting to change so there is hope yet!
The main cause is: HUMANS
Hello!

There is many possible answers to this. But, for certain, wildlife has one, deadly enemy. Humans. Humans are building houses and all kinds of factories where there was once beautiful fields and forests. They cut them down, pollute the air with greenhouse gases, ruining the earths atmosphere, polluting the Earth's rivers. Especially rivers like the Amazon. Causing Ebola. We humans are ruining wildlife, and if this keeps up, wildlife will become extinct.

Luckily, there are some people like Jane Godall (I can't spell her last name) who are helping wildlife. Please do the same. GO GREEN!!
Because we keep killing it, one way or another.

What is the Need of cutting down forest?

You need to chop down some of the rain forests because we need it for paper although it lets all the c02 back into the air we still recycle our paper so one day we wont have to chop down the rainforest's any more because we have enough paper because we recycle.

What is the definition of wildlife conservation?

A wildlife preserve is a protected piece of land by the government in order not to endanger the usually vibrant wildlife in that area.

Wildlife conservation is the protection of species and habitats of animals.
