I would suggest something from the dell studio series. Im not sure what your budget is but they have a dell studio to fit almost any budget.

This can be a virus or something on the hard drive. The first thing i would do is use something like UBCD4WIN or AVG Rescue CD and scan for virus's. If both of those came up clean, i would then run a repair on the OS to replace all system files.

I don't know but I know the solution because my laptop (the one I'm using) fades but you just move the screen (tilt it) slowly and move the mouse until you can do things. HOPE THIS HELPS!!
