Well it depends on what the next set of treatment will be for your case. Whether it be implant, crown and bridge, or dentures. I will try to explain the reasons for the need of impressions on all these procedures to better answer your question.

Implants: Implants are a long process. They take 6-9 months to complete the entire implant. At first the doctor must take an impression to have prior to any work being completed. He will send this to the laboratory where your implant will be made. After the implant placement and healing time is completed the doctor will need to take another impression to send off the laboratory again and then you would get your crown and abutment for the implant.

Crown and Bridge: Before any work has began on the patient the assistant needs to take an impression so that when she makes the temporary crown is will reflect your natural tooth. This makes it much better for the patient. Also after the tooth has completed his preparation of the tooth they will need to take another impression for the lab where your crown will be processed and made for your next appointment if the office does not do in office crown and bridge.

Dentures/ Partials: Before beginning any work again the patient will need to have an impression for the lab. When making dentures and partials there are 5 steps before placing the partial that is to make sure all the teeth are symmetrical and everything lines up with the patient's midline and they are satisfied with what the teeth will look like. Later you will need more impressions when you will begin the reline of the denture or partial that is usually 6-12 months depending on how the denture was made and the adjustments made to the denture.

While allowing the wisdom tooth to slide into the second molar space is one option, there are other options to consider. Perhaps a dental implant would be another possibility.

I think the safest way to uncork a bottle is to Place a dish towel over the bottle, firmly grasping the bottom part plus holding the bottle firmly. Slowly turn out the cork, and if it does 'fly' out of your hand it will get lodged in the centre of the towel, and not flying across the room knocking over the urn of your Grandparents sitting on the mantle. VMK is the name of a PFM (Porcelain Fused to Metal) product developed by a dental technology company called VIDENT, a subsidiary of VITA. It stands for "VITA Metal Keramik". It does seem strange when you're reading through dental technology literature and you see references made to "porcelain fused to metal (VMK)" and then you think, I understand PFM; where does VMK come from; what does it mean? A retired dentist. Just because they retire doesn't mean they lose their accreditation. Those are professional boards that certify you meet their requirements. You've met the requirement. A dental student is still a student and therefore doesn't qualify for accreditation as they're not licensed dentists. Lastly, why would the patient have an accreditation unless they're a dentist themselves?

Your dentist should only be charging you the difference between the Aetna allowed fee for the exact service you are getting and the amount that aetna pays to him. The reason I say exact service is because sometimes the insurance companies do what's called downcode, which is basically paying on a code that is similar to what you are having done but the charge is lower. You would still be charged by the dentist the more expensive fee and have to pay the difference. Even though the insurance company only considered that they would pay for a silver filling, y ou are responsible for the dif between the true service and their portion.
