The highest reliably measured temperature was 134 degrees F taken at Furnace Creek of Death Valley in the Mojave Desert on July 10, 1913.

The great majority of the land mass of Australia is either arid or sem-arid, there is very little surface water, the rain fall is low and there are very few rivers that actually run other than immediately after heavy rain. Some of the larger deserts are the Great Victoria Desert, the Gibson Desert, the Tanami Desert, the Great Sandy Desert, the Little Sandy Desert, Sturt Stony Desert, the Simpson Desert. That accounts for most of the west of the continent, nearly two-thirds.

No! not at all! Iran is a country with different climate. It has deserts, mountains, jungles, rivers, seas and.... some cites are very hot, some are cold, some have 4 seasons. and with a 2-3 days travel, you can see all this climate! so interesting:)

At the equator the moist air rises and rain falls over the tropics. The air then moves north and south of the equator and sinks between 20 degrees and 40 degrees north and south. Since the air is now dry and sinking, little rain falls and the areas around these latitudes are deserts and semiarid lands.

California does have a desert (in the south), called the Mojave Desert. In this desert, there is a place called Death Valley, which is the lowest point in North America (not the world, however). Death Valley is 282 feet below sea level.
