Asked by Wiki User

Somalia did not fight for their independance at all- before Somalia became a country it was two different protectorates- A British protectorate called British Somaliland (established in 1884-87), and an Italin Protectorate called Italian Somaliland ( established in 1889-90). Italy promised after World War II that in 10 years they would make Italin somaliland an independent republic. Somalia became a fully independent republic in 1960. When Italin Somaliland was gaining independance it merged with British somaliland making them both independent republics under the new name of Somalia.
