It will then be up to the patient to choose another doctor. If the patient has a serious illness and is not taking their prescriptions or coming to see you for follow-ups or tests (if needed) it's best to let them go. These are the very patients that could turn around and sue you should their illness get worse. The best way to deal with a patient that is non compliant is to tell them there are a lot of sick patients out there that would appreciate your time and if they don't conform then you will no longer see them. It would be wise to follow-up with a letter to the patient to explain why you have refused to see them.
