P0300 Diagnostic Code - Random Misfire

Symptoms.
Engine may stumble or miss

Stuck exhaust valve
Bad catalytic converter

The Fix
Best first action is a tune up, new plugs, wires, inspect all hoses and wire connections then reset the code. If it returns you will need to narrow it down to a system, coils and coil packs should be tested, catalytic converters for function ( do you smell rotten eggs?). A misfire that jumps cylinders could indicate a lean condition, do you have any other codes along with the 300? this will help clue you in to the source, check valve function to make sure they are opening and closing fully.
This is probably pone of the most difficult codes to troubleshoot, so start with the basics and work your way into the more expensive options, in many cases a good old tune up solves the problem, back it up with a fuel system cleaning and see where you stand.

P0300, multiple cylinder misfire.

clockwise when you are looking at the distributor from the front of engine

On the right side of gear shift lever, there is a long narrow plastic bin probably 1 inch wide and about 3 inch long and 1.5 inch deep.
Pull this bin up by grabbing inside.
You will find a window below and a pink plastic tab.
Gently push this pink plastic tab to release gear shift lever from park in case of emergency (only).

The egr valve is mounted directly to the right hand exhaust manifold on the front. It has a wire harness attached to it and a tube and flange bolted to it that goes to the intake just downstream of the throttle body (behind the air box). four bolts and one electrical connector and it comes off. be careful, there is a metal gasket between the valve and the engine and another gasket, cork if i remember right, between the tube flange and the valve.

There are access plates under the rear seat for both sides of the fuel tank.
