Dog Behavior

Dogs are unable to talk just like we do, but we can still understand their feelings by observing their behavior and body language. It is compulsory that an owner is aware of his dog's body language, as it will not only strengthen their bond, but will also prevent tragic results where the owner is forced to abandon his dog due to behavior problems. In this category, there are questions relating to the different body languages of dogs, their behavior, etc.

How can you train your dog fast?

Well, you can't really train your dog fast. It takes time to train a dog. You can go to a local animal shelter, and get a video that is free. That help me so much. It trains your dog how to crate train, sit, come to you and to also do all sorts of tricks. Sorry but i forgot the name of it. It talks about dogs health and other things you need to know.

Should you de-sex a female dog?

Whether you get your dog spayed or neutered, he or she will still have a sex. Consider women who have had a complete hysterectomy; they are of course still female. "Fixing" a pet simply makes it sterile and does not drastically change its personality.

To fix or not to fix is a complex decision, as there are many contributing factors involved. For example, do you ever intend to breed your dog? If not, and you still decide to leave your dog intact, are you willing to supervise the animal closely enough to prevent it from having sexual contact with another intact dog, thereby creating a litter of unwanted puppies?

Many pet-owners and veterinarians support the goal of spaying and neutering pet canines by 6 months of age, with the goal of preventing an excess dog population. Homeless dogs and puppies are often doomed to lives of suffering, or else early euthanasia at a high-kill shelter.

There are health issues involved with both intact and altered animals. As you can imagine, hormones are present in mammals for a reason. Neutered males dogs, for example, have no problems with testicular cancer, yet may be prone to immune system problems later in life. One solution might be to allow your pet -- male or female -- to be intact for a year or so; that way, he or she will be able to build up important hormones that will have a positive effect on the animal's health. Of course, you must then take care to prevent unwanted puppies while your pooch is fertile. Also, keep in mind that keeping a bitch in heat in your house can be a messy proposition and may require extra cost and effort on your part. If you are still unsure about how to proceed concerning spaying and neutering, get the advice of a trusted veterinarian.

How can you keep a female and male dog apart during her cycle?

The short answer is: you can't. He can smell her for blocks or even miles depending on his nose. He can smell where she's been and where she's peed. Stray dogs can (and will) actually track her back to your house. Proper management is critical. Keep them in separate rooms. Be aware that some dogs can figure out how to open doors. In such a case, put them in separate rooms with each in a crate and a carabiner reinforcing the door of the crate. Walk them separately. Do not allow them in sight of each other. Intact males can be extremely determined when a bitch in season is nearby. They can even breed through the wall of a crate given the opportunity. If they manage to get together despite your best efforts, do not attempt to pull them appart. During intercourse a gland on the male's penis swells while the female's vulva contracts. They literally become locked together (this is called a "tye"). They can be permanantly injured of forceably pulled appart. When they do come apart, take the female immediately to the vet. You have only 24 hours in which to take action. The vet can administer a "mis-mate" shot which will prevent pregnancy. Think of it as a morning after pill for dogs.

Do dogs have a sense of humor?

Answer:

No dogs do not laugh.

Another Answer:

It depends on how you define "laugh." Dogs have been recorded making a breathy pant that they make only in the presence of someone (animate, living) they have positive interactions with, and while playing. If the sound is recorded and played back for another dog, that dog will exhibit play behavior (play bowing, for example). It is, in other words, a sound associated with fun and play.

They also have a wide grin, often with the tongue hanging out, made in pleasant situations (getting belly rubbed by a friend, for example).

Do they have jokes, find things funny? We don't know. We can't say that they do or don't. We can say that the same areas of the brain "light up" in scans in both humans and dogs (say, when seeing a familiar face with pleasant associations).

Their emotional lives are probably similar to ours, but not identical.

So the accurate answer is a combination of "we don't know" and "it depends."

Another Answer:

Wagging their tails is the same as giving a big smile or showing delight, and might sometimes be interpreted loosely as a laugh.

How do you potty train dog real fast?

You can buy puppy training pads or if you cant get any of them use newspaper. If your puppy/dog starts to go on the floor quickly put them on the paper/training pads after a few days if they start going on the paper put them outside after they have been and say: Good boy/Good girl. Eventually you can remove the paper completely and if you see them sniffing put them outside again and say: Good boy/good girl. After a while they can control themselves until you put them outside hope this has helped!!

What does it mean when a mouse wags her tail?

Tail-shaking in mice is usually a signal of agitation or anger. My boys sometimes will shake their tails at each other right before they have a fight. (These fights are quick, by the way--I would separate them if the fights got dangerous.) I imagine it means the same thing in babies. though it could also be an act of playfulness rather than aggression.

Will your dog get along with your guinea pig?

A lot of dogs are scared of guinea pigs. I currently have a guinea pig and a Labrador Retriever and they both get along fine. Hope this helps!

Why is your older dog is dripping urine?

It is probably urinary inconcitence. It means that your pet is having problems controling his/her bladder, and some liquid leaks out. As dogs age, their bladder shpincthers weaken, due to a hormone or something, and they pee on the ground without wanting to. Dont blame them, just ask your vet to help.

Hope this info helped u.

Why does a dog rub its face in another dogs poop?

Dog often only do that to other animals poo but its not abnormal to do it with other dogs poo. Every dog has a different scent to there body so when a dog does that it is trying to disguise its self to be that dog I'm not sure why a dog would do that to a dogs poo. But when a dog does that to lets say cat poo it is trying to disguise its self to be a cat so it can hunt the animal. But a dog with dog poo on its face may just be playing.

What does it mean when a dog licks its genitals?

Can mean anything. The dog might be nervous, filthy, bored, or in pain. If it's a newer gesture, make sure your dog has no wounds or bumps where he's licking, then give him a bath. If you believe it's out of nervousness or boredom, pull out the chew toys. Chewing things helps relax a dog and relieve their anxiety as well as boredom.

Some dog's are compulsive lickers, which is a serious problem as they'll often go to the point of licking their skin raw. If this is the case, you need to get to the vet to make sure the raw patches are not infected and get an opinion on what might be the best method to redirect your individual dog's habit.

Why is your dog not moving around a lot?

If your dog is not moving around a lot, it may be feeling poorly. Watch the dog for signs that it is sick. The dog may also just be tired. Or it may be feeling stressed. As dogs get older they do spend a lot of time resting and sleeping, so it may just being relaxing.

Why do dogs bring you their toys when you come home?

I have always heard they do this as a means of showing that you are dominant. If you are the Alpha dog in the home, then all other dogs in your "pack" would see you as their leader. Yep, your dog thinks you are a dog. Or, you could just think of it as your dog showing you how much he/she loves you!
