I once had a toy poodle and when we left the house we would put him in his dog cage. if we were going to be out long we left a potty pad, a toy and food and water but when u come home be sure to let him out again.but if you don't like the idea of a cage what u might want to do is leave a potty pad at the front door and put his/her food up high never leave it out all day let the dog eat and drink and take him/her out 20min later don't wait too long!
