The best way to make sure that the puppies will be healthy is to make sure that the mother has the proper care and nutrition during her pregnancy. First litters can also be low in number.

If it is a mixbreed, do not breed to sell as a pitbull. I allways recommend not to breed a pitbull with another breed because pitbulls temperament is stable and crossing with another with another breed will cause other problems that you will never have with a pitbull.

As much as possible grab the runt and put it on a nipple and make sure it eats until its full and another pup doesn't push it off to the side. If you can do this at least 5 times a day, by the time its around 3 weeks old it should be strong enough to hold its own. if it doesn't eat or looks sick call a vet
