Donkeys are short because of the way they are bred, They actually have a mind of a dog. That is why they sit. There are different breeds of donkeys, Like... Is stubborn as a mule a simile?

They are stubborn BECAUSE OF their intelligence. I've also found mustangs to be the same way. Instead of just reacting to things, they actually try to figure things out. That's why they mess with EVERYTHING, and test you constantly. It's their way of interacting with and learning about their world. It's just the nature of the creature. I think it's a good thing. I'd rather have a horse/mule that thinks about things than one that just reacts all the time.

A jennet, jenny, maud, moke, mule, Rocky Mountain canary or neddy. Hybrid offspring of male horse and female ass?

This is a hinny. As mule-breeders say, "Mules can do it all!" Hinny breeders add "... but hinnies do it better". Because of the shortage of large donkeys most hinnies are pony-sized but it is possible to breed a large hinny from a jenny of around 14.2hh and a horse of 14.2-16.2hh. In Cyprus, there are lots of very high quality hinnies, bred from jennies of around 14hh and palfreys of Arab type in the same height range. The only thing to avoid when breeding a mule or a hinny is a pure-bred Arab. If you're looking to breed an Arab-type mule, go for a part-bred Arab or Anglo-Arab and cross it with an elegant donkey of good size (14hh or more).

Is a donkey a equine?

No. Donkeys are pseudo ruminants, which are not true ruminants since they:

a) do not chew cud

b) do not have a multiple-chambered stomach.

They do, however, have a large cecum which is responsible for the majority of the fermentation that goes on in the donkey's digestive system. It is for this reason that they are called hind-gut fermentors, but never ruminants.

What are horses offsprings called?

Baby horses are called foals. When they are young, foal is the proper term for either gender. Males are called colts (colt foal) and females are called fillies (Filly foal). At around six months, they are called weanlings. Once they reach one year of age, they are yearling. The term colt and filly still apply until the horse reaches maturity (usually around four years old). Intact males are then stallions, castrated males are geldings, females are mares.

What are the signs that a donkey is ready to give birth?

She will begin bagging anywhere from 1 week to 2 months prior to foaling with the average being 3 to 6 weeks. You may even see a crystallized excretion at the tip of the nipple a few days prior to foaling. Don't remove it, that is the colostrum on its way down. You can squeeze a very small amount from the nipples to check for color. When it becomes milky, foaling is within 12 to 24 hours.

How did mules get discovered?
