Can too much water kill you?

Drinking too much water causes 'water intoxication'.

The body fluids become diluted due to the excess of water compared to the normal solutes the fluids carry. This causes a large concentration gradient to develop - the fluids inside the body cells are more concentrated than the fluid surrounding them. This will cause water to enter the cells by osmosis, making them swell.

It is these swollen cells that endanger the organism, and can even be fatal. It may put pressure on, and block the flow of blood vessels to the brain and nervous system.

If you starve yourself and drink water can you lose weight?

You can, but that is not very healty for you and once you start to eat normal again, you will gain the weight back very fast. I am trying to lose weight right now. I have found out that in order to lose 1 lb a week you have to cut out 500 calories a day. It takes 3500 calories to lose 1 lb of fat. Just eat healthy and exercise. And remember muscle weighs more than fat. Good luck and God Bless:)

If you need to do a urine sample for alcohol and your not sure if the alcohol is still in your urine, the best thing (of coarse) is to not drink alcohol until after your test...

Does drinking a lot of water help to cleanse alcohol from urine?

No, it helps the liver process toxins.

However, it is important to not drink it all at the same time (and this has nothing to do with the liver specifically). More than one liter (quart) per hour over several hours, can be dangerous, since it dilutes the essential minerals in the bloodstream (electrolytes). But if you spread it around over the course of the day (like 1-2 cups per hour), it won't hurt you.

Can you put bleach in drinking water?

no you can not use bleach in your water

Correction: one cannot make dirty water potablewith household bleach, but you can use it to preserve drinking water for emergency storage purposes. See the following website:

http://www.bae.ncsu.edu/programs/extension/publicat/wqwm/emergwatersuppl.html

Note that it only requires a few drops in a gallonof water to keep fresh water potable, but adding a lot of bleach to dirty water only makes it more toxic, not safe(r) to drink.
