Augmentin is an excellent drug for ear infections. If there is no response to this drug it is better to culture ear discharge and check the sensitivity of the causative organism. Second generation cephalosporins are also very effective for ear infections. Sometimes anaerobic organisms can cause ear infection especially if is chronic. In that case metronidazole may be useful. Infection due to mycoplasma may be treated with erythromycin or another drug from the same group of drugs.

1. How old is the person who has this "lump"?? Especially if it is an adult!! 2. Is it "Dime sized", or three fingers in width?? Those are two different measurements [unless the finger-width is of that of a child]. 3. Did it become visable following an ear infection, viral syndrome, of throat infection...?? 4. Are there any large lumps under the arms, in the groin, etc?? 5. If the person having this is a young adult, did they have a recent diagnosis of Infectious Mononecleosis (Epstein-Barr Virus) If there are "lumps" under the arms and in the groin, have a docor of PA/NP check him to make sure there isn't something a lot more serious going on...!!!!

f you have had an ear infection for a week and now sound is muffled, it is best that you go see your doctor. Antibiotics are needed to clear up the infection before more permanent damage is done.

You REALLY should not swim for at least 7 days, and you should try to prevent from water getting in it at all. It also helps to put a cotton ball in it while showering. You should'nt share your headphones for a while (to prevent giving it to someone).

The only place I would tell you to go is go to the pharmacy! Get the pills called Amoxicillin 500 Mg. Trust me on this one I had ur problem before I took this when I went to the doctors my ear felt better u just have to drink it for ten days or more if ur doctor tells u too! I hope I helped!

Hi there. I personally think that they can. In fact I just googled this very question myself and I'm having allergy/mild sinus issues the past few days. Additonally I've been having this tingling in my scalp on one side and sometimes even in my throat. It's been off an on over several days and very slight but still creepy. I've worried myself over "could it be a stroke" but calmed myself after reading about onset of stroke etc. Hopefully you're doing well now and the feeling is gone. Take care!

Yes!!! I was born deaf in one ear, had 4 surgeries, then finally an eardrum transplant. I have had so many infections my whole life and only one medicine worked until highschool. To prevent damage to your ears make sure you clean them often. Yes you can use Q tips but make sure you don't insert deep in the ear canal. When listening to music try avoiding putting the volume so loud. This can lead to hearing problems.
