Discipline can be a valuable tool in teaching self-control as it sets boundaries and expectations. However, a balanced approach that incorporates communication, positive reinforcement, and teaching coping strategies is often more effective in promoting long-term self-control and behavior regulation. Discipline should be used in conjunction with these other methods to foster a well-rounded development of self-control.

How Carl Rogers influenced curriculum design?

Learner Centered Education focuses on the students and their interests, but in most cases it did not influence curriculum design much, if at all. Curriculum is still designed with teaching certain subjects and concepts to students no matter what the student's interests are, mostly so students will do well on standardized tests.

The exception to that is a school that focuses on a child's interests and talents, which would have a learner centered curriculum.

Why is submersion education for ESL students harmful?

(This answer pertains mainly to the USA.)

Submersion is also known as "sink or swim", and it is illegal in the U.S. under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, following the Supreme Court decision Lau v. Nichols in 1974.

While there may be some ESL students who could succeed in such an environment - very young students with a talent for language, or with high levels of linguistic and academic development in their first language - these are not the norm at any age.

Furthermore, while students may eventually learn enough English in this scenario to participate in social conversations, they would be falling behind in content instruction (social studies, science, etc.) while they learned the language. In fact, even under current ESL programs many students cannot keep up with academics while they struggle with low English proficiency; this becomes more true the older a student is when s/he arrives in the U.S. The ideal for these students, while logistically impractical in most school systems, is bilingual education, which allows students to progress in content studies while they learn English, and then transfer their knowledge and skills to English when they become proficient.

Finally, while it's true that our immigrant ancestors managed to survive without ESL, most of them were able to find jobs requiring very little English or education, and did NOT, in fact, "learn English" by this method. Little Italies and Chinatowns would not exist if this were true...

What is a fast way to do homework?

Try doing it in 20 minute sessions with a 5 minute break to make it more efficient.

Or,you could first take into consideration the teacher you are turning it in to. Is she an easy or hard grader? Those thoughts aside, I would suggest tackling the homework starting with the hardest assignments first. Make a list of what you're going to do- trust me, this helps. Finally, set time limits for yourself. For example you could say to yourself you will finish your math homework by 7:30 etc.

-and maybe start your homework earlier? :)

What is the purpose of worksheets in education?

Worksheets are generally given so that students have an opportunity to independently practice a skill that has been introduced and practiced under supervision in class. Independent practice has been shown to help students become comfortable with a new skill. Later, the teacher can take a look at samples of the independent practice to be sure that students have learned the skill and are ready to move on to the next step. While worksheets can be boring, that is actually a good sign -- that the skill has been overlearned and the student will be ready for the upcoming lesson.

What is efficiency in education?

Efficiency in education would seem to imply an education that provides maximum understanding of multiple disciplines in the shortest time. To achieve this, the best approach would be to fully immerse the student within a network set up to provide all avenues leading from the original goal of a specific subject but then to follow any path that the student sees as appropriate to fully develop an understanding that could include apparently unrelated subjects. The concept is similar to placing someone who speaks only Japanese and raised in an exclusively Japanese upbringing into an environment where only Polish is spoken, read or written. Paths would lead to assimilating other subjects such as customs, food, social/antisocial behaviors, opinions, government and so on. Provisions would have to be made to sustain all basic necessities such as food and housing for a time but then to force the student into self reliance. Afterwards, the student is placed back into the original native environment.

This method can be applied to any subject from computer programming to repairing/designing transportation systems or any unlimited fields of learning.
