Can you use star delta starter under 5 hp motors?

You can but it is a waste of money. Across the line voltages for small HP motors is low. 5HP motor, 200 V = 17.5 amps, 230 V = 15.2 amps, 460 V = 7.6 amps and 575 V = 6.1 amps. Multiply these amperages by 300% for starting inrush and you see that the current is still not high enough to draw down the line voltage and effect other consumers on the same line.

What are some hand tools used in the workshop and its uses?

Hand tools include such things as saws, pencil, rulers, files etc. Tools that rely on human power.

A workshop is used generally as a place of work for the manufacture and repair of various consumer goods.

What is class PS in current Transformer?

PS is a special class of protection transformer used in differential protection schemes. The CT is specified by what is known as the knee point (that is the point at which the CT saturates).

Because they are specified using the knee point, two separate CTs will have the same characteristics. These matched CTs won't introduce measurement error during through faults on differential protection schemes.

How 50Hz frequency is selected for a generator design?

Frequency is a function of engine speed and the number of poles in the generator end. For instance, a speed of 1500 RPM turning a four-pole generator will produce 50 hz. The formula is: Frequency = (poles/2) * (RPM/60) From the formula, you can see that the same frequency would be produced by a two-pole generator spinning at 3000 RPM.

Why does a microwave oven turntable rotate in either direction?

The turntable in a microwave oven is driven by an alternating current motor which may start in either direction at random and continues to travel in that direction until stopping. The reason for using a turntable in a microwave oven is that the microwave energy is not evenly distributed across the oven. The turntable allows the food to receive an equal amount of energy by turning across the uneven microwave field. The microwave energy is turned to heat within the food. It actually does not matter in which direction the turntable rotates in order to evenly cook the food.

Will a 230v microwave work at 240v?

Yes it will. If you consider the variances in voltage that occur during the course of a day, at 230v rating you may be getting 240v coming in anyway. The 10v difference is less than 5% and any appliance worth it's salt will handle this no problem.

How do you hook up a 3 phase water heater to a 3 wires 1 white 1 black 1 bare copper ground?

In order to answer your question, firstly, we have to accurately establish your supply.

Is it 2 phase or 2 wire?

2 phase is two active conductors, i.e. 2 live wires with reference to neutral or ground

2 wire is single phase, an active and a neutral conductor.

2 phase supply is uncommon.

Single phase (2 wire) is the more common supply and for installations with large loads three phase, or, more appropriately 3 phase and neutral (4 wire) is used.

Please confirm your supply so that a detailed answer can be provided.

What wire gauge and amperage for a 1600 watt wall heater?

1600 watts is unusually low for electric baseboard heaters! These usually are rated at about 6000 watts.

Typical electric baseboard heaters operate on 220 volts thus you heater would pull about 7.3 amperes and 16 gauge wire can easily handle this.

A standard 6000 watt baseboard heater pulls about 27 amperes and needs 10 gauge wire.

How are currents calculated?

Ohm's Law says I = V/R. You need to know the voltage across the component and its resistance, for that particular temperature and time, in order to calculate the current in the component at that instance.

Does a three phase motor have a neutral?

No, three phase motors do not actually have neutral line unless you are referring to the motor control centre where a neutral line is required when your control coils and other components are single phase operated

How to Test for single phasing?

You can do that in one of three ways:

1- current on each phase,

2- phase to gnd voltage,

3- phase to phase voltage,

preferably with multiple meters, the three lines has to be balanced within ~ 3%

How much does an electronic systems technician make a year?

In The Netherlands i guess between €18000 - €36000 depending on your experience and education.

What is the amperage of a 9.6v 1600 mah battery?

The amperage is governed by the load that is connected to the battery circuit. Divide that amperage into the 1.6 amp hours and that will give you the endurance of the battery in hours.

How many parts are in a remote control?

Depends on the make.

There are usually 2 parts to the plastic case.

1 circuit board

1 rubber membrane key pad with conductive rubber pads moulded in.

Thats 4, unless you count the components on the circuit board.

On the board, you will find:-

1 IC controller

1 decoupling capacitor.

1 crystal or ceramic resonator

4 to 6 resistors

1 or 2 infrared LEDs

Why is a three phase four wire distribution system used?

A three phase four wire system allows for two voltages from a single three phase transformer. The transformer configuration is a wye or star connection. It is used in commercial and industrial applications. Apartment buildings are now starting to use a three phase four wire service distribution system. Some wye connection voltages are 120/208 volts, 480/277, and 600/347. The lower voltage is derived from the sq root of 3 divided into the three phase voltage.

What wire carries the current away from the appliance?

for safety purposes the safety ground

in normal operation, both the hot and neutral alternately

Is Armored cable can be bent tighter than the recommended turning radius without causing damage to the conductors?

In my experiences with armored cables such as MC,HCFC the bending radius of the conductor inside is much smaller than the radius you could bend the armored casing. in other words the clad casing is going to break Which could potentially damage the conductors inside and should not be used. As always electrical wiring is not a hobby and should be left to licensed electricians who follow NEC codes and local codes

Can you replace a three phase motor 3 Hp RPM 1420 with a single phase motor for a planer?

Probably not. The single phase three horse power motor will be much larger in physical size than its three phase counterpart, and will probably not fit.

My motor is 220volt single phase what voltage should the starting capacitor be The capacitor that is in it is only rated at 125 volt 500 MFD This is a 2 HP motor?

The voltage rating for a start capacitor must be at equal to the motors line voltage or greater.

The formula used to find the value of a motor starting capacitor is 2650 X FLA/VAC = mfd.

Ac relay and DC relay?

what is the meaning of ac relay and dc relay

EDIT: a DC relay is simply a coil and core that pulls on an armature. An AC relay usually needs a shaded-pole core (couple of copper loops) to prevent the armature from vibrating at 60 cycles or so. The core, also, is laminated steel like a transformer; so is the armature to help contain the magnetic field. You should not substitute a DC rated relay for an AC , but the reverse should be ok, if voltage and current ratings are the same.
