I totally agree! Emo people are generally sensitive, different, quiet, and thoughtful. We just tend to be sad a lot. But we can still be happy. Unfortunately, there are posers.
i agree.

Why do emo people hate everyone?
its not that 'emo' people hate everyone. its just when you put people in a category where everyone is obligated to be scared of them, they will be mad and upset. people act like they are a disease just cuz they are differently dressed.its not 'emo' people in general, im sure jocks hate certain people, i know that alot of preps hate many many people. its best to just to sereotype emos as haters of the world. get to know people before judging, we all heard that our whole life but we never seem to grasp that concept. its time to learn.
I wouldn't ask " why do emo people hate averyone?". I would ask "why do most people hate emos?" Emos don't hate anyone, at least i don't. It's actually quite the opposite. A lot of people hate emos and they pretend that it's not wrong to and that emos are the haters when it's not them. Many people hate emos because they are diffrent than them and the people are afraid to get to know us because they are afraid of being proved wrong.
Emo hairrr. well I tease or razor my hair. I make it look jagged. if you don't know how to make ur hair emo. just go to youtube or any other emo video sites to learn how to make your hair emo. i learned by myself.
What do you do if people call you emo or goth but your not even close to being emo or goth?
If you're the opposite of a goth or Emo (those are two different things by the way. They should not confuse them) and people think you are them, then they don't know what a true Goth is. It's a state of mind before it's a style. Just because you wear black doesn't make you Goth. Either way, tell them that they don't know what a true Goth is, and ignore it. Besides, you shouldn't be that ashamed of being called Goth. If your child feels that they want to be goth let them do it just NO BAD MUSIC!!!!
Answer
It's a choice of what you wear and how you act. People do it to be different and unique.
Answer
Each of us chooses a style and a group in which we find comfort. Emo is far from unique or different, but that's a whole essay in itself. You can adopt the style because you like it and that's as far as it goes. Or you may feel a kinship with the depressed and self destructive. But if you truly feel that, eventually you will have to get help, or find a path for yourself. Emo is a temporary state, everything evolves. So you can adopt the style or the group if that's what suits you now.
Why do people think being emo is cool?
Some characteristics of Emo boys include wearing tight fitting jeans and a having a dash of fringes covering most of their faces. They also have a lot of body piercing work done. It is not uncommon to find Emo boys with pierced eyebrows, ear studs and pieced belly buttons. While for some, it may be just a passing phase, for many, it becomes a part of life. The Emo scene has received a lot of flak from critics off late and is not too welcome among parents too. The next splash of Emo wave saw the singers penning down more emotional lyrics. A large number of teenagers and adolescents identified themselves with this fast growing music scene. They started aping these singers. This culture did not restrict itself to the males alone. Even the fairer sex sports it. They have unruly hair and wear tight fitting jeans again, usually faded or torn at certain parts. They are dressed in such a way so as to show their rebellion to some existing societal norms. Usually Emo boys and girls are rebels at heart.
The clothes are sorta cute. And I like their hairstyles. How do you tell your mom your emo?
Look up some emo websites by typing "emo" into Google. A few links are listed below. Tell your mom you want to show her something, and show her some of those that are most like what you're interested in. Try to help her see the cool side and not just the stuff that might turn her off.
Then look for the right point to tell her that you are really into that. Ask her what she was into like that when she was your age.
I'll bet you can take it from there. ---- Well if your mom is against it you might want to make syre she is in a good mood and then tell her good things about being emo and eventually tell her. Good Luck! you might not wanna tell her, because i am emo, and my mom doesn't know, because she would sure as hell make me go to counseling.
What are the effects of emo-punk music?
There is no effect... music is music. The only "effect" is the negative stereotypes spawned by those who can't seem to grasp the concept that everbody likes what they likes and are who they are. It' s no different than rap, screamo, bluegrass, etc., etc. It has a certain sound and its meant to express feelings or for the love of music itself. And for those idiots that want to disagree and say it's a negative influence on the youth and is one of the many causes for disorder in the world, think again. I am living proof that it is not at the age of 17. Death, war, disease, and lies made by the many are. If you have any objections and/or agree with me (seeing how im not a member of this site {plan to be though}), contact me on myspace (www.myspace.com/ARANDOMFOOL) or on soemo.co.uk and my name on there is just_another_emo_kid.
No it is not it makes u relax and think u can concentrate better too im emo but not drug emo drug emo is bad so that is the difference
What is the difference between punk rock and emo?
Not much really.
Punk rock is about rebellion against the law and government.
Emo means emotive hardcore and is more about people talking about their life.
Emotive Hardcore is a sub genre of hardcore punk and indie rock so emo is basically punk.
How do you get people to call you scene not emo?
Answer
1)Tease your hair like your life depends on it
2)use a WHOLE can of hairspray
3)Think that your ALL THAT!
4)have a poster of Audrey Kitching hanging on your locker and in your room
5)pray!!!!!
if you are real a teenager going through this you will know half those words if you are a little 12 year old girl who just wants to be a scene kid then good luck.
Answer
If you want to be called scene instead of emo, shop continuously at Hot Topic, make that your all time favorite store and waste daddy's credit card on it. If you're a guy, spike the back of your hair up and lave your front hair into bangs. If you wear glasses, change it to thick-framed glasses. You take myspace pictures from all different angles because you think it's 'hardcore'.
Answer
Learn to be obnoxious. <- A lot of scene people are obnoxious and think they are THE WORLD.
Answer
Okay yeah there all right too but I just wanted too add another little thing Dont wear dark clothes then youll be called emo. And make sure you smile often. Dont forget to love scene queens to such as Audrey Kitching, Hanna Beth, Jac Vanek, Zui Suicide, Kiki Kannibal, Dakota Rose, and Raquel Reed They might help inspire you. Well yup and dont forget hairspray.
Answer
OK, the music they like is never shout never brokencyde and I think we the kings. And if you are scene, you HAVE to know your music. If you ar a girl, you have to have at least a few shirts with hello kitty or chowder. I suggest you tease youur hair too! Oh, and you have to have skinny jeans ( by the way this one is for girls only ) ballay flats or vans flats and lots of different colored bracelets. You have to have lots of jewewlry and don't tell a scene person they're emo because theyll get agitated; first of all, scene people are happy and emos are not; second of all, scenes wear bright colors emos don't; and scenes usally make their last name different, for example, if your name were Brigett, you make you last name Bones or something really bad. Remember all these rules and you will be scene and remember this : SCENES ARE ALWAYS HAPPY!
To stop being emo, it's important to address any underlying issues causing distress or negative feelings. Consider seeking support from a therapist or counselor to explore and work through these emotions. Engaging in activities that bring joy, practicing self-care, and cultivating a positive mindset can also help in moving towards a more balanced emotional state.
What do you call a emo hairstyles?

How would you ask the hairdresser for an emo hair cut?
What is the point of sterotypes like when people call you emo goth punk or rocker?
When people tend to have their own style that various others share they have been labelled with that group - such is a stereotype. Its not nice to be labelled but stereotypes have been around for ages. Stereo typing can be something you don't actually know your doing. People are labelled and put into a group by other people. People think that if you hang around with a 'punk' you are automatically a punk. It shouldn't matter who you are, what clique you are in, everyone should get along.
You don't just "become an emo overnight", if you try to people will think you are a poser. Having a unique emo/scene hairstyle is the main part of being emo. It tells other people who you are. If you want some ideas, google "emo hairstyles" and look through some pictures, or even videos on youtube. Makeup is another thing, thick eyeliner or mascara (this is optional) will show your "inner emo". If you start wearing emo fashion like black clothes and screamo/rock band t shirts if your a guy (or girl) would help. You don't have to cut your wrists or anything, it's more about the fashion, hair, and music :D
You get an emo style haircut, chopped layers are best and wear black with skinny jeans.
Emo means really cool, awesome hair that is puffy with coon tales and different colors, and emos like to slit their wrist until it's gushing blood. And Yes scene is the same as emo but I don't think scene people slit their wrists.
Emo means you fail at life and you don't want to change it.
OK. really it's a stereotype. I am scene. Scene is kind of the opposite of goth, bright colors teased hair, almost as if your stuck in the 80's it's rad. Also scene listen to certain kinds of music. Emo, emo is actually short for emotional; usually when your emo you're depressed and may cut (mostly wrists and thighs). Lots of people say scene and emo are the same but they would be wrong.
Except for the cutting, it's the '50s beatniks all over again.
don't be a stereo typw. emo and scene are styles based on music. emo are more of a emotional thing, doesnt mean they cut or depress all the time. they just get hurt easily. "emo" emotional. and scenes is also the style except they dye their hair more brighter colors. and they wear brighter color and seems to have the same artistic style as emos. emos can dye their hair if they want, but not too much as scene such as coon tails. for scenes, they tend to make a "scene" . for all you stupid steareo types, just to let you kno, some of them don't like to label themselves. and if you watch stupid emo stuff like nigahiga, cant you realiz4ed his video on "how to be emo" goin along w/ how to be :ganster, ninja, and stuff like that, they are just stereo types. and don't just think emo and scene is a lifestyle cos its not. and dotn be going around claiming yourself to be, cos putting labels on yourself is stupid.
i have spiked my hair in many ways, there is an anime style spike whcih is done some times by using any kind of gel and a straightner, you can also use wax and all that junk....but it is not needed, although hairspray may come in handy if your hair is really long. normal spike requires wax or gel alone which is very simple to do with a comb
No there are fat emos and skinny emos just most of the emos you and me see are skinny
I think your question is when did the word emo begin being used? In the book "Everybody Hurts: An Essential Guide To Emo Culture" The author says the first time the word was used was in 1997. Any answers about "emo" history or culture, etc. can be answered in this book, not to mention its HILARIOUS!
Actually in an episode of MASH, BJ used the word emo to describe Hawkeye. He called him Captain Emo when Hawkeye was depressed over a letter he had received. So the word emo had been used much earlier then first thought.
What was fashion like in the 1970's?
Just think of Madonna and bright colors, big gold/silver hoops, colourful tights, chunky heels and crazy hairdoos.
Update 9/13/10:
Having lived through the 70's and 80's, fashion in the 70's was nothing like Madonna's. I'm willing to bet the person who first answered this question isn't over the age of 30. It was an era of bell bottoms and big collars (called butterfly collars), long hair and afros, bright colors and bold patterns, tie dyes. It was the age of disco, mini skirts, hot pants and platform shoes. Ethnic fabrics became popular with the hippie crowd. Some icons of the times: Farrah Faucett, John Travolta and Elton John.
