Why is fashion not important....i have to do an MLA research on why is fashion important and i want to know why some people dont think its important. can you guys give me your opinions or a website?

It's interesting that you've asked/been asked simply about the importance of fashion because if you really strip it down the answer is very plainly obvious... It is totally unimportant in almost every respect. Nobody has any true need for many articles of clothing designed to be fashionable unless you count vanity and aesthetics as a reason. Until very recently in human history the function of clothing was not to look good but was to protect you, keep you warm and make living easier. In my opinion the fashion industry is a vapid, vacuous and a genuine waste of time that serves only to place an observable barrier between various echelons of society, a barrier that we should have grown beyond by now.

As I don't mean to be unhelpful prehaps that is the aspect of the question you could focus on, how has fashion become so instrumental in defining the barrier between classes and how what may be seen as fashionable for one social group may be seen as unfashionable to another. Prehaps you could mention the differences between the clothing of nobles and peasantry in throughout history (e.g. Royalty and their subjects during the renaissance) or how native tribes in both our ancient history and present day have specific traditional tribal dress that denote an individuals importance in the tribe. Essentially, try to explore the psychological/sociological link between fashion and social status.

Hope this helps!

P.S. People who bang on and on about how they "make their own style" and "just wear whatever they feel like" are still most likely slaves to a trend and don't have the wherewithal to realise it. If a person dresses in a way that they consciously or subconsciously believe will invoke an emotional response in others be that admiration, approval or even distaste then they are just as much a part of the ideal of fashion as someone who boldly shows off designer merchandise. You can observe this very easily in that people who would openly seen to snub fashion will often dress in a way similar to friends and vice versa. The least fashionable way for a person to dress would be to dress totally practically for whatever they were planning to do and wear only things that would aid them. However (especially in modern society) even practical clothing is linked to the ideology of fashion.

What is a fashion psychologist?

I am working for over 2 years as Style and Fashion Psychologist so have a quite good idea of what it is:)

Psychology offers understanding of our behaviours and thoughts in various areas of our lives, including fashion. As Fashion Psychologist I work with individuals, companies and PR and media sharing that knowledge.

With individuals it's all about how the clothes affect their emotioneal states, their cognitive abilities, their confidence as well as how fashion is a tool to creating the best possible image of yourself which will allow you to be successful in every area of your life.

With companies it's all about showing them how employees are the representation of the company hence they need to dress in a way congruent with company's image. But it's also to do with the way their dress affect their cognitive abilities and well-being hence the productivity.

With PR and media I act as an expert on campaigns, help shape campaigns from psychological angle, write articles, comment on various issues etc.

The applications of psychology in fashion industry are really varied.

Your style choices should reflect your personal preferences and not be dictated solely by trends or labels. It's important to feel comfortable and confident in how you present yourself, so choose a style that resonates with you rather than conforming to a specific subculture. Appearances can be deceptive?

Yes appearances is always deceptive especially when it comes to a relationship. We always think that people who are a quite type, or even shy can fool a lot of people. Not all people who are quite or shy will be that. And this will be the look that they want others to see from them. Appearances is very important but if we always believe that when a person is quite, it doesn't mean that he is always quite to everyone else. From my past experience the man that I married told me that he is a quite type man, but I found out that his only quite with me not to everyone. His appearances kind a fooled me but then again I never let it bothered me anymore because I am his wife.

So over all do not let appearances of a person fool you, there's a lot more that you must know when it comes to appearances.

What are some similarities with fashion in the 1960's and tody's fashion?

the 60's consisted of high rise pencil skirts, form fitting dresses and belts and bright colors like coral and orange and blues. you can see the inspirations for fashion in the 60's is going from the classy and cute 50's to the more colorful and vibrant 70's. if you see the fashion today, you see more and more young people going for high rise pants, bell bottoms, form fitting pencil skirts or dresses. as for color, coral and oranges are very hot right now. also, in the high fashion world you can see medium length trenches that come in bright neon yellows and other bright colors paired with classic hair, makeup, and some flats. these things show all of the 50's 60's and 70's inspiration. 60's just happens to be the happy medium that we love. hope that helped!

How does fashion affect social status?

Fashion definitely affects social status due to the cost associated with the type or brand of clothing a person wears. For example, a person wearing clothing made by Giorgio Armani, a designer label, may be perceived as wealthy because this person is able to afford these expensive clothes. In contrast, a person wearing a shirt from Walmart may be seen as having a lower social status because Walmart is known for their low prices. In addition, the popularity of the accessory or clothing contributes to a person's social status. Many teenagers have wardrobes that consist solely of clothing from Hollister or American Eagle, since these brand names are fashionable currently, therefore others might view these teenagers as "cool". On the other hand, those teenagers who shop at JcPenny and do not prefer the clothing at these brand name stores may be seen as unfashionable because of their lack of conformity.

1. Long, wavy hair is totally in along with straight hair. Wavy hair is more like a messy curl then curls together. I have natrual wavy hair so I'm good but sometimes me and my friends will straighten it.

2. Don't forget to use a keratin spray before using HOT TOOLS!!

3. Wavy hair tips... Take showers in the morning... wash your hair one day, wear a cap the next, then wash it the next day. This will help it grow longer. When your hair is wet twist it up put a hairband in and let it sit 4 15 mins. This well help it get wavy. Either letting it naturally dry or Use a blow dryer works.
