In general, that could be caused by a lot of things. Loss of power or the engine dying when the accelorator is depressed usually means a problem with the air/fuel mixture. I would check things in the following order.... 1. vacum leak 2. Issue with fuel injection or fuel pressure Hooking the vehicle to a diagnostic system should tell you where the problem is since all modern vehicles use EFI.

Warning lights come on when there is a problem. An Engine management light comes on when there is a problem within the engine, that may cause problems later.

Behind the handbrake lever there is an ashtray Take out ash tray Losen off smallbolt (3mm alen key) and you will see adjuster nut Ensure your car is on flat ground and wont roll away Release handbrake and tighten up adjuster nut till you get around 3 or 4 clics when you pull the lever up Check you have not adjusted to much by putting in first gear and lift clutch to just past biting and feel for back brakes sticking on Hope this helps G

I was looking for the same answer, but I think I have worked it out on my journey home. I have a Mk2 2002 Punto Sporting 1.2 16V.

After travelling a while I got a beep come over the stereo every 30 seconds.

This carried on and on. While travelling I identified that if the TA (Traffic Announcements) was enabled the beeping starts when the current Radio station starts to get a poor signal. I was listening to a national station and had traveled a long way and I needed to switch to another frequency to get a stronger version of the same station. Once I did that the beeping stopped. It only seems to whing if the TA is on. I notice the radio is not RDS (well I cant find on RDS logo on it anywhere) and so it does not automatically follow a station and switch to the strongest signal as you move through the country.

Well that is what I worked out in 2 hours of travelling within 12 hours of having the car!

I also diagnosed that an engine management light which came on a bit later, but that was an early warning of oil level. It had reached 1/2 way between min and max and a top up, turned the EML light off.... Result!

There could be many reasons why a car won't start in the morning. It might be a problem with a cold start, but it could be the battery isn't connected all the way, or the lack of gas.

In a Fiat Punto, the heater fan fuse is actually located in the trim box. This is located right below the steering wheel.

No such thing as a relay fuse, you have a fuse in the wiring for each circuit, and some circuits also have a relay to reduce the amperage on a switch. What is not working on your car? then look up handbook supplied to find the fuse location in fuse box for the thing that doesnt work. if fuse ok then check relay but this needs more experienced person to do.

If your car is making a grinding sound when changing gear the problem depends on whether or not your car has an automatic transmission.

If your car has a manual transmission:

1. You may not be pressing the clutch down far enough when you change gears or there may be a problem with the clutch linkage.

2. The springs in the transmission separating the clutch plates may be weakening.

3. There may be another problem in the shifting mechanism.

If it does not go away if you press a little harder on the clutch, have a mechanic look at it.

If your car has an automatic transmission take it to the shop immediately and hope it does not break down on the way.

The firing order for the Fiat Punto is 1, 3, 4, 2. This is a 1.2 Liter 8 valve engine.

GET AN OLD WIRE COATHANGER AND STRAIGHTEN IT OUT WITH A SLIGHT HOOK BEING LEFT ON ONE END. GET A TORCH TO PINPOINT THE RELEASE CATCH. INSERT THE HOOK END AND PULL THE WIRE IN THE DIRECTION REQUIRED TO DISENGAGE THE CATCH. YOU COULD ALSO TRY USING ALONG SCREWDRIVER TO OPEN IT USING THE SAME METHOD

i found that by fully extending the bonnet release lever and having someone else pull the bonnet upwards at the same time got the bonnet open, then i made sure i lubed the catch on the bonnet and works fine so far.

If the cable has broken

grip the broken end with pliers or

vise grips and then pull

I've just finished grappling with the jammed bonnet of a 2003 Punto due to a broken operating cable. It would seem the only way to open the bonnet without damage to the car is to remove the bonnet release mechanism held by 2 13mm nuts to front of the engine bay.

The best way to remove these nuts I found was to use 2 wooden wedges to gain better access. I covered the wedges with a rubber glove sprayed with wd 40 and pushed them between the front lip of the bonnet and the plasctic facia immediatley below - roughly 3 to 4 inches either side of the badge. The plastic below the bonnet bends not the bonnet.

I've viewed posts that suggest using an socket wrench , extension bar with a knuckle end attached to the socket via the gap in the plastic radiator facia. In practice I found this angle of attack too acute to losen the nuts hence the wedges. Also the wedges gave a better view of the nuts.

I also removed the number plate and a plastic vertical reinforcing stringer to get an arm up along side the radiator and guide the socket onto the nuts.

Like many posts on www initially I was convinced that all I had to do was find the right button / lever and the bonnet would spring open! This is not the case. Unfortunately the release mechanism is only exposed when the unit is removed. Long screwdrivers, coathangers or garden canes can not work.

this is the easy way takes 5mins and you dont break anything,drive your car on kerb with passenger wheel on kerb,with a torch slide under passenger side front of car (just behind the rad)look for the bonnet cable or feel just above rad,(it helps if you get someone to wiggle cable inside car)once you got cable about 2 inches from bonnet catch push towards drivers side,the nearer you get cable to bonnet catch the better and then the bonnet will open

I think the Punto has electric power steering, so no fluid.

it means a part of your engine is not working the way it should,it can just be a temp problem,but get it check soon as you can with a very simple diagnostic check.

Tyre Pressure for Fiat Punto 1.2cc 8V 3 door is

29psi (front) or 2.0 bar

28psi (rear) or 1.9 bar

for normal use.

this is a fault with the airbag. it is yellow or red right ?

No, There's Note Enough Room In The Engine Compartment To Remove It From Above Although If You Have A Ramp And A Crane You Can Drop It From The Bottom, But This Is Not Advised. Just Remove Gearbox First And The Engine Will Come Out The Top Easily With Enough Fiddling Etc And Obvisiously With The Help Of A Engine Lift.

The cam has a mark on the pulley that faces the back of the in the 9 o clock position and crankshaft can be aligned via inspection hole in the bell housing (gearbox) mark on flywheel needs to align with the mark closest front of engine
