What is the quikest way of treating burns?
it depends on the type of burn you are treating. You can treat food burns (like, when you eat really spicy curry) by drinking a bit of milk and keeping it on your tongue.
A sun bun or any other first-type burns like when you accidentally touch something hot, can be treated by putting the burnt skin in cool water.
2-degree burns (when you get blisters and your skin swells up) need very cold water on them (to make the skin numb) You have to stop the air from getting to the skin or it hurts. You'll still need medical help for it.
3-degree burns (really bad) - you can't do much here. Just get help immediately. To stop the danger if the skin swells, remove any jewelery or tight clothing (it doesnt matter if its near the burn or not, just get it off)
hope this helps

Stop you from bleeding to death?
In almost every situation, Direct Pressure is the stop-bleed of choice. It works extremely well and doesn't create coplications other methods bring to the table. * Get a large sterile sponge (ideally -- but a towel or even a T-shirt will do). * Press hard against the wound, pressing hardest at the place where most of the bleeding occurs. If the sponge soaks through, don't replace it unless you must -- instead, place another over it. * You can enhance the effect of direct pressure by: * ** Elevating the limb ** Pressing on pressure points (areas where the blood vessel comes near the surface). * Tourniquets are Dangerous. Do not use one unless there is absolutely no other way to control bleeding. When you tie off a tourniquet, do so with the knowledge that this may easily cause the loss of a limb. To use, tie off the tourniquet proxiimal to the heart and as close to the wound as possible, and tighten with a windlass -- a stick placed inside the loop, twisted to tighten the tourniquet only until bleeding stops. Tie off the windlass, note the time on a piece of paper and pin it to the victim. DO NOT leave the vicitm if at all possible. Do not remove the tourniquet if there's a possibility of transport or turnover to a physician in the next few hours. Tourniquets are a last resort -- avoid if at all possible.

First things first, get medical help on the way, you will not be able to save them by yourself, you're just trying to prolong their life till professionals get there. EVEN IF THAT MEANS LEAVING THEM ALONE WHILE YOU GET HELP!
There are only two things you can do when its as bad as this. The heart is surrounded by the lungs, so likely as not, the lungs will be punctured, and the bullet hole will now be what's known as a sucking chest wound.
This means the chest cavity will be drawing in air, instead of the lungs. So the lungs as well as filling up with blood will not be able to draw their regular amount of air in. The victim will be finding it more and more difficult to breathe. This will also probably be making them panic.
First step you need top stop this, find anything air tight yet flexible like a sheet of plastic, or even a plastic bag. As long as its not too dirty, anything will do, even something you find lay on the side of the road. Forget about it being unsterilised, they will die of their injuries long before they catch an infection!
Now you have a bag or something press it over the wound, to stop more air going in the hole. If they are still with it, talk to them, reassure them that they will survive, tell them that an ambulance is on its way. Get them to hold your temporary chest patch in place.
Now start checking their chest over for exit wounds. If its a woman injured, and you're a man tell her what you are doing. Even at a time like this she will be well aware of where your hands are. Start Checking round the victims chest. The entry wound will be small, but if its exited the body, expect something big, Maybe even something you can fit your fist in such is the nasty way bullets work, again find some plastic sheet to make it air tight.
Now to concentrate on reducing bleeding. You've seen films where they tear up a shirt to make bandages, well now its your turn, sorry if its your best shirt, but its life and death.
Other than that keep talking to them, keep reassuring, that's really all you can do till the pro's get there. Expect to get coated in blood, and sorry to say this, but prepare yourself in case they don't make it.
I don't know of any ways to safely get it out, but i wouldn't worry about it going to her heart. My father has a piece stuck in his leg from when he was 12, and he is 53 now, and still extremely healthy. _____________
You could talk to a doctor, who might be able to extract it for you. Luckily, the "lead" in pencils is actually graphite, and not real lead, so she is unlikely to be poisoned.
Essential oils of lavender and/or tea tree are anti-septic and are the first line of treatment. On a shallow cut , or abrasion comfrey works best. It should not however be used on a deep cut as there are too many chances of complications. Calendula, Heal-all, St. John's Wort & Mullein are all good for wounds.

What are the four rules when rescuing someone that is drowning?
Are you referring to Reach, Throw, Row and Go? In order, try and rescue a distrssed swimmer by: # Reaching to them from safety (e.g. the deck of the pool) and pulling them up. This approach keeps the rescuer out of the water, allows them more options (go for help, lift the victim out of the water, commence rescure breathing with victim in water, etc.), and is considered the optimal solution, if you can fit it to the situation. Note that reaching can be done with hands, legs, rescue hooks, etc. # Throw a flotation device or retrieval line to the victim. This has most of the good elements of the Reach option, as well as working at a greater distance. On the negative side, the victim must be conscious and conherent to make this work. # Row. The rescuer enters the water, but on a "vehicle". This can be a boat, skiff, dory, etc. but it also can be a Doyle type rescue board or flotation device that also has hydrodynamic properties. The up side is you can quickly reach an unconscious victim, and you have the flotation to help bring them back in. Ther downside is that the rescuer is comitted, and has reduced their options considerably. For instance, once you're in the water with the victim, phoning for help gets to be a lot more problematical. Also, the ersucer is committed to the one rescuse site so, if another victim goes emergent, chance of rescuing that second victim is considerably reduced. # GO. This means enter the water without a vessel. In GO rescues, you'll still need flotation, and performing any sort of in-water rescue without flotation needs to be carefully considered, with an eye to aborting the rescue until flotation can be found or another means presents. GO puts the rescuer in the water with the victim, hopefully in close proximity, which in turn opens up a lot of rescue options (resuscitation, various tows, the ability to closely monitor the victim for changes in condition, etc.). It also fully commits the rescuer to this one course of action. And it places the rescuer in water with what can sometimes be a badluy frightened and therefore dangerous victim. Of the 4, GO rescues generally have the highest incidence of rescuer injury and mortality, and the worst odds on success.
