What do you do when you have a heat burn?
I've been recently shown this unique, but helpful treatment for sunburn. Cut a tomato in half & rub it across the area that is burnt. There's something in the tomato that takes the sting out of the burn, but does not take the redness away. That's good enough for me & hopefully helpful for you.

What is the first aid for dysmenorrhea?
Dysmenorrhea is defined as uterine pain experienced during menstruation that is severe enough to limit activities of daily living or require medication. As such, it is not an acute process that will benefit from "First Aid".
If a patient has been diagnosed with dysmenorrhea, she will have been prescribed medication to manage the symptoms. She should take that medication in accordance with her doctor's instructions.
A patient who experiences severe abdominal pain around the time of her period, should not assume she is experiencing dysmenorrhea. Many women do experience discomfort during menstruation, but it can normally be managed with OTC (Over The Counter) medications like Acetameniphen (a.k.a. Tylenol), or Ibuprofen (a.k.a. Advil or Motrin). Any abdominal pain that is undiagnosed, and is severe enough to break through OTC pain relievers, should be evaluated by a medical doctor.
Moreover, what's right for others may not be right for you. One thing that helps based on experience is that
That should improve your well-being during menstruation.
If you are in a severe accident such as a car crash, you could be thrown against the steering wheel or the seat in front of you when you least expect it, therefore you might be talking to the person next to you with your arms in the air.
How do you keep people's neighbourhood clean?
Being proactive and not litter myself, and set examples for those who live in that neighborhood.
Also, if littering is an issue with a neighbor (you know, trash on their yards, etc.), you can actually contact the city to have this person cited.
If it's a more broad range, like your WHOLE neighborhood, I would suggest going to a city hall meeting and addressing the issue, and hearing your local reps solution to the problem. It's not a one-time thing to have the issue resolved, you may have to go many times, but it's a great way to know your neighbors who have same concerns.. and remember that active constituents who voice their needs are the ones these politicians are out to grab votes from.. not the silent one who sits at home and complains.
Is a bandage used to hold a splint in place?
Yes. If you are in a situation where an adhesive bandage, ACE bandage, or some other form of First Aid bandage is available, you can always tie it on with a sock/other article of clothing, or use tape. If you use tape, be sure not to tape the skin.
"Shin splints" is more of a symptom that could be caused by several conditions than a specific condition itself. Pain or discomfort in the front lower leg when running or jumping are a good indication of this type of condition. Putting pressure on the muscles next to the tibia (shin bone) will produce discomfort or pain. Take two fingers and apply firm pressure as you slide your fingers along the tibia where the bone and muscle meet on the medial (inside) and lateral (outsided) sides of the tibia (shin bone). If you feel pain in any of these areas it is likely that either the muscle is pulling away from the bone in microscopic tears or that you have small stress fractures along the tibia.
It is more common for both legs to be affected, but definitely possible to have symptoms in only one leg, especially if that leg is used more in a certain activity, or is weaker than the other leg and thus predisposed to injury.
Although wearing neoprene sleeves on the lower legs and certain taping methods can relieve some of the discomfort in the lower leg commonly referred to as "shin splints," the only real treatment for shin splints is rest and ice. Ibuprofen or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatories can help reduce inflammation and speed up recovery. A good supplemental intake of calcium, Vitamin C, glucosamine, chondroiton, and MSM will ensure that your body has the materials it needs to repair itself.
Shin splints are usually used to describe the pain and discomfort associated with the tibialis anterior muscle being torn off of the tibia because of a strength imbalance between this muscle and the soleus and gastrocnemius. To recover, the athlete should rest and apply ice to the affected area of the shin in 20-30 minute segments as often as possible. The athlete may return to exercise after the area is no longer sensitive to pressure along the tibia, the athlete can perform lower leg stretches without discomfort, and a light jog is shown to produce no pain or discomfort. The recovery period will usually take 2-3 weeks, but this can vary greatly among athletes.
To prevent shin splints from reoccurring, or to prevent them from ever occurring in the first place, one should engage in an exercise program that targets strengthening the tibialis anterior directly. This short video shows a simple exercise that is very effective in preventing shin splints.

How do you treat a burn in the wild?
First run the affected area under warm, not hot, water if you can. Then, if fingers have been affected, place them in the armpit where they will be warm. If the toes have been affected, place them on someone's stomach where they will be warm. Leep the affected area warm. If an ear is frozen, warm it with your bare hand. Do not rub the frozen area. Have a victim exercize his fingers and toes if they are frozen. Also make sure to get in a tent or building where it is warmer.

I have a tube from my grandma's medicine chest. It is in a metal tube with no date on the crimp. Tube is red on top and white at bottom, and about 5 inches long and 1-1.5 inches wide. It has a twist-off black hard-plastic cap. The ointment is ivory colored and thick; I would say thicker than desitin. I don't know if the original state was different, because this stuff has to be about 30-40 years old in my best guess. Front of tube: ACTIVE INGREDIENDS Oils of Spearmint, Bay, Wintergreen (Syn.), Salicylic Acid, Lanolin, Zinc Oxide, Carbolic Acid (Phenol) 0.44%, Ortho-hydroxyphenyl Mercuric Chloride .056%. Passive base: Petrolatum, Paraffine. 1-1/4 oz. Avoir. KIP, INC. Los Angeles, California Back of tube: FIRST AID BURNS-SCALDS SUNBURN CUTS, BRIUSES Apply directly-or on clean cloth to injured surface. How should one treat an injury to the cornea?
If an injury to the cornea is suffered there are some very basic steps that can be taken as first aid. Firstly it is vitally important that any object stuck in the eye is not removed without professional medical assistance. The main step that should be taken before attending the emergency clinic is to flush the eye with cold water for about 15 minutes.
How long is a first aid certificate current for?
It depends on what institution and what country you obtained the certificate in.
In New Zealand, a St John First Aid Certificate expires after three years. If the certificate is renewed within three months, you can attend a refresher course and get it re-awarded. If it has expired for more than three months, you will have to complete the whole two day course again.
It is paramount that the certificate is kept up to date so that you are familiar and kept informed with new techniques in first aid. For example, the Resuscitation Council of New Zealand changed the cardiopulmonary resuscitation ratio of compressions to breaths from 15:2 to 30:2. Updates like these are important if you are to maintain your level of proficiency.
What is ECC as it relates to first aid?
ECC stands for emergency cardiac care or some call it emergency cardiovascular care.

apply a topical antibiotic,
cover it (a band-aid is fine).
What is the function of rescue blanket in a first aid kit?
The obvious answer is to keep people warm, in cases of hypothermia or shock.
The less obvious answer is that blankets can be used to splint limbs.
How do you sprain your ankle doing something really easy like a handstand or a cartwheel?
It could be possibly because you may not be used to doing stuff like a handstand or a cartwheel. If you are not careful, you might invert or bend your hand or ankle easily. For a ankle, I'm not sure you could get it other than letting your ankle do whatever it wants. Basically, what I am trying to say is that your feet could invert somehow doing something like this. Falling is more common in my experience.
Which is the appropriate first-aid response for a person suffering from heatstroke?
The appropriate first-aid response for a person suffering from heatstroke includes moving them to a cooler environment, preferably indoors or in the shade. Remove any excess clothing and apply cool water to their skin, or use ice packs on areas like the neck, armpits, and groin to help lower their body temperature. Offer cool fluids if the person is conscious and able to drink, but avoid caffeine or alcohol. Seek emergency medical assistance immediately, as heatstroke can be life-threatening.
