Noses heal pretty quickly, but a serious wallop can take about a week, assuming the nose isn't broken. In the meantime, ice-pack it to reduce the swelling faster. You might also consider taking an over-the-counter painkiller/anti-inflammatory like Aspirin, Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen (naturally, always follow the directions on the box and don't take these if you have adverse reactions to them).
If you think the nose may be broken, it's worth getting an X-ray. If a broken nose heals incorrectly, it may cause nasal breathing problems for life.
If a bump stays for even longer period of time, you should definitely go to a doctor.

What is direct pressure and elevation?
Direct pressure is the first and most effective method to control bleeding. In many cases, bleeding can be controlled by applying pressure directly (Fig. 3-1) to the wound. Place a sterile dressing or clean cloth on the wound, tie a knot or adhere tape directly over the wound, only tight enough to control bleeding. If bleeding is not controlled, apply another dressing over the first or apply direct pressure with your hand or fingers over the wound. Direct pressure can be applied by the casualty or a bystander. Under no circumstances is a dressing removed once it has been applied.
Raising (elevation) of an injured arm or leg (extremity) above the level of the heart will help control bleeding.

Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health or COSHH seems to be a UK program very similar to America's OSHA. They cover the public's exposure and handling of HAZMAT, suggest (and maybe certify) HazMat equipment, such as breathing rigs, and they undertake an extansive education program.
