What is the first thing you do when you burn your hand?
Since I normally burn myself in the kitchen, I go immediately to the sink and run cold water over my hand; it is important to lower the temperature of the skin as quickly as possible. Once some of the pain has subsided, I dry my hand off and wrap some ice in a paper towel to hold over the burned area. these steps usually keep burns from getting too bad, but, if needed, I will follow up with a salve like Burt's Bees Res-Q Ointment, which uses comfrey and other natural ingredients to heal and soothe all kinds of skin ouchies. :)
How do you wear a arm sling with a jacket on?

What does ABC's of first aid mean?
Airway - the airway of the patient is clear and nothing is blocking it. Including the tongue.
Breathing - the patient has respirations, you can see the chest rising up and down.
Circulation - verification that the patient has a pulse. The pulse can be checked by placing an index finger on the patient's wrist below the base of the thumb, palm side up.
According to the AHA 2010 protocol, the initial assessment of a an unconscious patient goes according to the acronym CAB, rather than ABC. Each of the letters remaining with the original meaning as described above.
* Ice it. Apply ice packs or immerse in ice water. Ice packs are 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off. Immersion is 5 minutes in - OR LESS IF IT BECOMES PAINFUL - the idea is not to freeze your foot.
You might also consider some Ibuprofen - it works as an anti-inflammatory and as a painkiller.
If wearing shoes hurts the toe, try flip-flops, or anything that doesn't interfere with circulation to the toe. And make a point not to re-injure it (I didn't really have to tell you that, did I?). :}
* Ice it, as the previous answerer says, but do not take aspirin -- this would make the blood clot spread even more. Also, apply a warm cloth 48 hours after you get the bruise. While I clearly see the point of worrying about NSAIDs in dealing with clotting factors, and I rather enjoyed seeing the thought that went into the answer, I'd point out that: 1. From the description, this injury has completed clotting (at least after the icepacking) and NSAIDS won't reverse that unless there's a history of blood disgracias, and that pain control is a valid factor in these things. 2. And, while Aspirin wouldn't be a horrible choice, I'd recommend Ibuprofen instead, in most cases and where there is no history of liver disease. Good answer though, even if I don't completely agree! :}
What are the different kinds of fractures?
there are many different types but the main 3 are open closed and a greenstick fracture. An open fracture is often when the bone penetrates the skin. Closed is when there is a clean break but does not penetrate the skin. a greenstick fracture is when it is only broken in one place. Almost exclusively occurs during infancy and childhood. The bending of a bone with incomplete fracture, involving the convex side only. Green stick fractures are characterized by a break in the bone which partially extends across and then along the length of the bone forming the characteristic fracture pattern for which it is named. There is also I buckle Fracture which mostly happens in children who's bones are not fully developed.
Are CNA's LPN's and RN's 1st aid certified through their license?
LPNs and RNs are considered to be Basic Certified and must be CPR certified, although much past the basic First Aid cert focuses on actual first responder work, which may or may not apply to or be trained by a nurse. CNA's may or may not be certified, based on the board requirements for their locale and their training (FC courses may be part of the training).
Does rubbing alcohol conducts electricity?
Rubbing alcohol, isopropanol, or isopropyl alcohol does not conduct electricity on its own, but might if something is dissolved in it. Rubbing alcohol is a covalent/molecular compound (an alcohol to be specific) and, therefore, cannot become an electrolyte like, for example, table salt. Electrolytes only come from ionic compounds, not covalent or molecular.
What is recommended regarding treatment of open wounds?
Firstly and foremostly, for medical advice you should always see a trained medical practitioner. All wounds are different and all bodies react differently to different kinds of treatments and what works for most people's wounds might not work for yours.
That said, when receiving an open one should apply direct pressure to the wound. Preferably, use a bandage, but if none are available use any cloth, then proceed to a hospital or doctor's surgery ASAP.
If you're talking about long-term woundcare, you must have sterile bandages and dressings otherwise the wound could very well get infect, dramatically increasing the healing time and exposing you to possibly fatal consequences depending on the severity of the wound and infection.
Make sure the person attending the dressing is wearing sterile gloves, has sterile tools such as scissors and tweesers, and most importantly WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE ATTENDING TO THE DRESSING.
If it is a large gaping wound, use sterile gauze (preferably wax gauze such as Jelonet brand) to pack the wound. Next, if there is a large amount of exudate (ergo, the wound is leaking fluid) then use a dressing that can soak a large amount. Then firmly wrap the affected area with a bandage. If the wound is on the torso, use tape.
That said, it must be made clear that to attend to appropriate wound care one must be shown and trained how to do it. No matter what, you can't do anything more than basic first-aid with the things lying around your home, unless you happen to have a cupboard full of sterile dressings, gloves, equipment and a stock of antibiotics.
What condition of immediate concern results from a loss of red blood cells due to hemorrahage?
The immediate concern is the lack of blood. Lose too much and you will die. I am also worried on their oxygination levels. Red Blood Cells transport o2 to the body cells and carry CO2 away. Losing blood means oxygen is not being delivered to the cells in the body and you will experience cell death.
When the cells that are dying are located in the brain and vital organs - that is bad.

Name a time when Jesus gave first aid to someone who was bleeding badly?
Matthew 9, Mark 5 and Luke 8 all relate the account of a woman who had an "issue of blood" for twelve years being healed because of her faith, not given "first aid."
When administering first aid it is important prompt action does not lead to?
This question is a little bit vague, I will answer it in 2 ways.
The first thing you do when you approach an injured person is make sure it is safe for you to enter the area. This protects your own health and safety to prevent you becoming a victim yourself.
The second danger of hasty action is that you may miss more severe injuries, or lose sight of the big picture. For example, someone who is bleeding from many superficial wounds looks bad, but an unconscious victim is more important to tend to, even though they may not have obvious injuries. Also, if someone complains that their arm may be broken after a car wreck could have head or spine injury. It is critical that you keep them still and perform a complete evaluation before you begin splinting the arm.
