Fleas

Fleas are wingless insects that live off the blood of mammals and birds. There are over 2,000 species of fleas, and due to their thick outer layer, are difficult to kill through force alone. When fleas feed on a host, they tend to leave raised and itchy bumps, and can sometimes cause diseases.

What happens if a flea goes up your nose?

The most likely scenario is that it will end up in your stomach and go through the same process as your food. If it gets stuck in the nose, it might get coated in mucus and later "picked" out. In very, very rare cases it could end up in the lungs, but that is super unlikely.

(It will NOT get into your brain and respawn. Don't worry.)

How do you kill fleas without hurting your pets?

Flea & Tick Preventatives, formulated for dogs to provide complete protection against fleas, ticks & heartworms. A single dose of the drug can provide complete one-month protection against the parasites. Moreover, it relieves the owner from keeping track of multiple products. The chances of missing or skipping a dose are also reduced drastically because a single administration works for 30 days.

Other than that, it is always easier to chase your dog for one administration than several.

A lot of many preventatives present on the market have a varied level of coverage. They offer different protection and thus must be given according to the requirement of the pet, but have some suggestion check them out here: ibit.ly/1bBu

Fleas bite warm blood animals?

From what I've read, it's a combination of two factors: some people smell and taste better to the fleas than others. Secondly some people do not have sensitivity to the bites and therefore don't react and have no idea they've been bitten while others are sensitive and have the allergic reaction that leads to itching.

Yes. Although fleas will often bite humans, they are unable to survive indefientely from our blood alone. It is in essence like us trying to live solely on water.

I asked a friend of mine that has served 5 separate year long deployments in the mideast. He said the flea collar thing is something that was started by the media, and they do not actually need. Somethings he said are welcomed are:

  • individually wrapped LifeSavers or other wrapped candies and snacks that do not easily melt
  • Gold Bond powder
  • sealable wet wipes
  • magazines...no porn, bikini stuff, or other things that are going to get them in serious trouble if they find themselves in custody... Outdoor Life and the like are great

Does fleas on cats usually cause hair loss?

Fleas themselves do not cause hair-loss. Rather, if the cat is infested, its continued scratching is the most likely culprit. If the hair-loss is extreme, however, another cause might be sarcoptic mange. In addition, there are several dermatological afflictions that can cause hair loss. Your veterinarian can tell you if your pet is simply flea-bitten or suffering from a more serious condition.

Is Nature's Guardian an effective way to prevent ticks fleas and mosquitoes?

I've heard of natures guardian, if you are controling fleas and ticks in your garden tere are better ways than commerical products, for example you can make your own garden spray with ammonia, listerine, cheap dish liquid, and chewing tobacco juice, no I am not kidding, look up Jerry Baker the master gardener, most commerical products have these ingredients in them, this way is cheaper, you mix it up put it in a gallon jug, use about 1 -2 cups in your hose sprayer fill it with water and spray. A mix of 1/2 C of cheap dish liquid (like Octagon) in your hose end sprayer will do wonders when sprayed on your plants outside or even your grass. The reason I say cheap dish liquid is because the more powerful ones with degreasers and anti-bacterial are no good for the garden, you just basically need plan old soap. Get rid of any standing water, and also throw your left over coffee on any damp spots you may have this will deter the eggs of fleas and mosquitos. Do a search on Jerry Baker Master Gardner you'll see what I mean regarding the use of the items I mentioned. i have found only Frontline Plus and k9 advantage do the best jobs to really kill and get rid of fleas and ticks on dogs. hell no
