I'm not a scientist, but I suspect the flies are attracted to the proteins that are in urine.
They probably have learned to associate the smell with the benefit.
I can't find any research on this, but that's my best guess.
I think it is a sign of diabetes The sugar excreted in the urine attracts the flies.
No we have one in our home and it didn't do a thing for fleas.
Do fleas need a host to turn into a tape worm?
Fleas do NOT become tapeworms. they are entirely two different types of animals, splitting off at the phylum level (Insecta for fleas and platyhelminthes for the cestodas or tapeworms as they're commonly known.) so they are no more closely related than than a flea is to an walrus.
Do flea bites burn after you pop them?
Yes they do. The bites are already inflamed and once you release the fluid, the tissue/fluid combination will cause pain and a burning sensation.
Treatment for Baby kitten fleas?
Frontline SPRAY is the only thing I could find suitable for young kittens. I think you have to get it from the vet although i believe some supermarkets/pets at home may now sell it.

Do humans get tapeworms from dog's fleas or tapeworms segment?
Humans get tapeworms from dogs when they jump from hosts (the dog) to us (the humans) and for more information please check out this site. Also from eating some meats from animals that may have had it and not cooking it enough to kill and get rid of them!!

Fleas seem to have an incredible jumping abilitly for two reasons. Firstly, it's because they're so small, which in turn means they are less effected by gravity. If you scaled one up to the size of a human, their jumping would be much less impressive. Seccondly, and probably more obvious, is that the flea has better legs for jumping than most creatures. Their hind leg contains 'resilin' (an elastic protien) which stores energy when it bends its legs, so when it jumps, the stored energy in the 'elastic' is released, and catapults the flea upwards.
Yes, the possums live in my attic and fleas fall from the vents and cracks because of them.
Adult fleas are blood sucking parasites and can only live on warm blooded animals (e.g. mammals, birds), should a flea fall off its host (e.g. in bedding, on floor, on ground) unless it is able to get back on a host it will slowly starve as it can no longer feed on blood.
Different species of flea are adapted to live on different species of hosts and if they are on a different species of host while they may be able to successfully feed they will be at a disadvantage (e.g. not being able to hold on to the host, not being able to digest the blood as well, not finding mates) compared to any fleas of the species adapted to that host.
My cat's lip keeps getting swollen is it because of fleas?
She may have a sore tooth / serious dental problem. Just like for us, humans, a very bad tooth causes a swollen face - on cats this shows on the lip. We had a cat with this symptom and by the time we realised it and took her to the went, she went through a long & horrendous suffering. Her pain (as well as our ignorance & vacillation) haunts me ever since.
Do fleas live in leather sofa?
Adult fleas cannot survive very long without an animal host, but flea eggs and larvae can live for many many months in carpets, between floorboards and possibly down the cracks of sofas. If you believe you have a flea infestation, be sure to treat all the furniture with a vacuum cleaner and flea spray.
Why do some people get bit by fleas and others don't?
There are probably several reasons, for example, people having different skin and different blood types.
