I'm not a scientist, but I suspect the flies are attracted to the proteins that are in urine.

They probably have learned to associate the smell with the benefit.

I can't find any research on this, but that's my best guess.

I think it is a sign of diabetes The sugar excreted in the urine attracts the flies.

Fleas do NOT become tapeworms. they are entirely two different types of animals, splitting off at the phylum level (Insecta for fleas and platyhelminthes for the cestodas or tapeworms as they're commonly known.) so they are no more closely related than than a flea is to an walrus.

with parasitiseds. best to get them from vet though, the otc pyrethroids are usually ineffective as most parasites are now resistant to them. Besides cats soon learn their bitter taste and avoid them.

fleas can transmit plaque because they can handle it they can not carry aids due to not only their sizes because of how there orgasms work as well they pressure it would put on the body.

Fleas seem to have an incredible jumping abilitly for two reasons. Firstly, it's because they're so small, which in turn means they are less effected by gravity. If you scaled one up to the size of a human, their jumping would be much less impressive. Seccondly, and probably more obvious, is that the flea has better legs for jumping than most creatures. Their hind leg contains 'resilin' (an elastic protien) which stores energy when it bends its legs, so when it jumps, the stored energy in the 'elastic' is released, and catapults the flea upwards.

Adult fleas are blood sucking parasites and can only live on warm blooded animals (e.g. mammals, birds), should a flea fall off its host (e.g. in bedding, on floor, on ground) unless it is able to get back on a host it will slowly starve as it can no longer feed on blood.

Different species of flea are adapted to live on different species of hosts and if they are on a different species of host while they may be able to successfully feed they will be at a disadvantage (e.g. not being able to hold on to the host, not being able to digest the blood as well, not finding mates) compared to any fleas of the species adapted to that host.

She may have a sore tooth / serious dental problem. Just like for us, humans, a very bad tooth causes a swollen face - on cats this shows on the lip. We had a cat with this symptom and by the time we realised it and took her to the went, she went through a long & horrendous suffering.
