Food Chains and Food Webs

First of all, there's not such thing as "primary producer" it's called producer, but if that happens the primary consumer would die so the secondary consumer who is the one who eats the primary, would eat another animal or die.

They get their energy from food and water, and ultimately from the sun. The sun sends energy to the plants which transfer energy into you when you eat it or into animals when they eat it and then you get energy from the animal you eat. It is a continuous cycle.

It depends if it is a carnivore or an omnivore even a herbivore a carnivore needs to hunt to get energy and remember a animal gets its energy by food. Anyway, a carnivore eats other animals so that's how it gets energy and a herbivore gets energy by eating grass and an omnivore eats meat and veggies.

Food chains are a list of animals with who eats who. Their purpose is to show you witch animals eat witch it is very important because if certain animals die out you will know witch the animals will be affected.

There Position is often no satisfied. i.e. their job is to decompose the dead remain. every animal dies in a food chain and also it may be decomposed by the decomposer at every step. So their position is not defined....

if there wasn't a producer there would be no energy being transferred. then the animals would weaken and start getting eaten by the carnivores. soon the herbivores species would be gone. then the carnivores all dieing. after all the animals would be dead.

So, ultimately, everything in a food chain gets energy from the sun. Energy is then transferred from prey to predator until the top, where the predator stores all the energy from its meals.

At the base plants, at the top the apex predators and all down one side the decomposers.
