i might be wrong, but i think its just because the XRs have the different headlights

im guessing you could just do a swap over of the headlights from the XT style to the XR style and put the DJR kit on

1965 was the first year of the 289 V8 in any Falcon. Previously it had the 260 V8.

I'd check for faulty Brake booster. I've seen cases of them cracking. I'm pretty sure their all made of plastic, the falcon boosters.

probably because the door lock actuator for that door is faulty. i would test the actuator first.

with ignition off hold done the button on the instrument cluster. turn ignition on. wait about 10 sec. the trip meter may reset but it will reappear to what it was before resetting the spanner symbol if done right. if done right. the spanner should dissappear.

I just finished taking this switch out of my 1965 Falcon convertible The body of the switch has a spring loaded button on the side that is opposite the wires. Pull the headlight knob out (as you would to turn the headlights on) then depress the button on the side of the switch. Then, while still holding the button down, pull the headlight knob all the way out. This can be tricky. Just jiggle and twist the knob slightly as you pull, it will come out. Then, using a bezel removal tool or a very wide cross tip screwdriver, unscrew the bezel where the stalk of the headlight knob went through the dash. The switch will then be free to remove. Please be smart enough to disconnect the battery prior to doing any of this. A scorched fuse panel is not a problem that you want to add to the defective headlight switch.

if you are talking a bout the interior panel, You need to remove screws around outside then door handle, window winder etc last of all the part you are probably having trouble with is the part of the door lock that pops up when the door is unlocked, this can some times be removed by pulling it straight up, however you may need to use pliers if this is the case i recommend putting a rag over it first so you don't damage it.

Remove the plastic shroud underneath the steering colum by pulling out the plastic rivnuts. This exposes the ignition barrel. There are two options from here. The common issue is actually the key lock which can be removed by turning the key to position 'I' on the lock (accessories on). On the rear side there is a round recess which has a pin in it. Push the pin in using a set of circlip pliers or similar 90 degree tool. With this pin pushed in the lock can be pulled out of the ignition barrel. When inserting a new lock make sure the key is in the same 'I' position. If you need to remove the whole ignition barrel the upper plastic shroud needs to be removed and you will have to chisel off the fasteners located on the top of the barrel and steering column as these are shear fasteners which are one use only.

Assuming it's a six cylinder, then its a Ryco Z9. Ryco is the brand.

Have you checked the o2 sensor, map sensor. will cause rough running problems assuming it hasn't got a blown head gasket. does it start on six cylinders when stone cold? assuming it's a six cylinder.

you need to remove the door skins first there is a screw on the inside of the speaker cover that holds it on.

They are very easy if your a do-it-yourselfer! The hub is free floating, which means that the rotors are only held on by the wheel studs, brake calipers and wheels themselves. You undo the brake caliper and they slip out, but you might need a brake piston pusher, they are between 6 and ten bucks at supercheap etc. Two bolts are undone per caliper, im assuming you are replacing brake pads aswell!!! Once you have the caliper undone move it to the side and the rotor slides straight off.

The harmonic balancer of an externally balanced engine will have some type of fairly substantial offset weight either cast into it, or sandwiched between the timing chain cover and the harmonic balancer.

unless you have an aftermarket ignition system you should be running near 6 degrees BTDC . This is stock for the car with the points setup. If you have any work done or an aftermarket ignition system you can safely bring up to about 23- 29 degrees BTDC. This is only a good idea if you intend to just drive it for fun where gas mileage is not an issue. If you are just looking for a better response and a more fun ride, i would stick with 12-16 degrees BTDC. On to plug gap and points gap, Your points should be gapped at 0.019-0.021. The plugs with a stock coil should be at .033 while a slightly hotter coil up near .045. hope this helps

The starter circuit needs to be configured as a manual transmission. The neutral /park switch can be bypassed at the starter relay. As this switch simply grounds the starter relay coil you need to refer to the wiring diagram and ground the relay coil directly to the chassis.
