I have a pair of 1980 280zx's 1 is stock 1 has a 60mm throttle body and I get average 29 mpg and 27 mpg the 1981 is the same L28 engine so should be about the same unless its a Turbo then I dont know and 1981 is the first year of the Turbo option

Checking my mpg many times for several years on my 1981 280ZX, I averaged 23.7 MPG. With the cruise control on 55MPH, I never approached getting 25MPG even when driving 100% on the highway. I don't believe the above poster, Arturo, is getting even 27MPG with his 1980 models, let alone 29MPG. I consider the 29MPG ridiculous. And no, I didn't have the "turbo option" on my 280ZX that Arturo mentions.

it's real easy first use a flat tip n pry off the bezel surrounding the transmission shifter. it's one whole peace from the cup holder to the bottom of your ash tray if equipped.then you pop off the peice that surrounds your center air vents. then you remove the ash tray and lighter. then you can remove the radio and the ac controls. they are two peaces so once you pull it out as 1 peace then you can. remove the screws on the radio and a/c unit and wala. your done

Fuel mileage is about 25-30 MPG depending on how you ride it.

unfortunately, if it's not written in the owner's manual or on the sticker located under the hood, you might have to do what i did. the radio had to be pulled, and the serial number called into porsche. they are the only ones who can give you the code :0(

Same as most every inline six - 153624 . 1 being closest to radiator. On the distributor 1 is at the front and one lead away- so pointing about 40* away from motor. It should say 1 on the dissy cap. Timing instruction are are a bit more complex as you need to bridge diag wires. Borrow a workshop manual from library.

Ya sure can sure can, you may have a driveshaft and spline issue, I took my old one to a driveline shop and had a new one built to fit. The 3 speed trans is a lot of times paired with a 7" rearend where the c4 is usually paired with a 9" so get both driveshafts and have a hybrid made.

well i don't know about a '91. i have a '94 3.1 v6. and i get around 16-18 in town and around 20-22 on highway. so i would assume you get around the same as me. I have a 91 3.1 and i get about 18 in the city and 24 highyway ------------------------------- Engine Size (liters) 2.2

I have been getting about 20mpg city/hwy combined as well at 90K miles with full tune up and K&N Cold Air Intake. Mileage was the same with factory air intake as well.

I've been getting a little over 20 mpg, I installed a K&N air filter and "The Tornado". Stop-n-Go traffic seems to kill mileage because of weight but highway mileage seems okay.

What this system is is a remote keyless entry system and electronic engine immobilisation system factory fitted in those models between the two mentioned which uses a three digit rolling code in the ECU and the embedded code in the tip of the key - if two of the three digits match, the engine will start! If not, no start!
