Does WAWA's gas come from the Middle East?

From what is posted on WAWA's website, their gas is domestic and I believe it comes out of the Philly/Jersey refineries where there are Sunoco Texaco and BP (Now at least BP is not Middle East) and to be honest, I think their gas is generic not name brand. But they state that its demestic.

But just becasue its refined in the US, does that mean that the oil is not from the ME?

From their website.

A Wawa gasoline store with its enlarged lot and fueling capacity sells more gasoline per day than most petroleum marketers. So, to ensure that our customers are getting the best, we start out with the best gasoline from major, domestic refineries. We add detergent cleansing agents to keep car engines clean while simultaneously helping to reduce emissions. In addition, our gasoline meets or exceeds all Federal, EPA and auto manufacturer requirements for quality.

As a tanker truck driver, I will try to answer this question. Wawa is the largest customer, that the company I work for has. Wawa currently has gas stores in VA, MD, PA, DE and NJ. For cost reasons, they try to buy the gas as close to the store it will be sold at as possible. So this means that a great deal of the gas they buy is refined at the Sunoco refineries in Philadelphia and Marcus Hook, but also they buy gas from two Valero refineries in Paulsboro NJ and Delaware City DE. These four outlets supply most of the PA, Southern NJ, DE and Northern MD stores. Wawa's stores north of Atlantic City in New Jersey get their gas from the huge Conoco refinery in Linden. As for the southern MD nad VA stores, of course there are loading terminals in these areas, but I have no idead what pipelines they are hooked up to.....

Now on to the question.... Does Wawa buy it's gas from the Middle East ? .... Todays date is March 21, 2009. As of one month ago, the answer was a 100% capital "n" NO.

For over a year now, Wawa has been renovating the Magellan Terminal located at the Port of Wilmington in DE. I don't know the specifics, but Wawa has an exclusive lease with Magellan to eventually pull product for about 95% of their stores from this terminal. The remaining 5% are stores in the extreme southern parts of Virginia, which will still be loaded locally. This terminal is state of the art. Wawa has invested heavily in this undertaking, and they are the first convenience store chain that sells gasoline to do something like this. Now from what I have heard, once this terminal is up and running 100%, they will start to buy their gas from abroad, Saudi Arabia has been mentioned numerous times. Super tankers will bring the gas across the ocean to just off the coast of Delaware where barges will go out and get loaded to bring it to the terminal. It will be interesting to see if Wawa, once this change is complete; will change the literature in it's promotional advertising.
